Black screen
@ General forum

Hey..

So i've never had any problems with my PC before, neither did i have problems earlier today when i came back from school.. but i decided to go to sleep in a few hours and i woke up to a whole different world! yea, my pc is not starting up (or the screen isnt).

So the problem here is, my pc starts up just fine, i can hear the normal startup sounds and lights turns on etc. but my monitor keeps black, in sleep mode.. doesnt change anything and the LED is blinking like usual when i shut my computer down.

So i immidiately thought it was the cable or something, so i changed the ports on the graphic card, switched them around and such and still no difference whatsoever... But when i REMOVE the cable from the monitor or vice versa the monitor starts saying "check cable" etc like it should, but when i plug it in again it goes black and LED begins blinking again, like its sleeping or something.

So i decided to replace my graphic card with another i had as reserve and still had the same problem, i tried using VGA and DVI instead and still same problem.. Then i took my laptop and plugged the monitor in it and it WORKED... so the issue is 100% something with my pc.

But i did switch the graphic card and it didnt help either, so right now im thinking it's my PSU that is the issue - because sometimes when i turn my computer on it shuts down in like 1-2 seconds and then it starts up again right after.

And not so long ago i bought a soundcard, so i really suspect its my PSU that ran out of power etc. to turn my PC on but i did remove the soundcard aswell and nothing happened, but it could ofcourse already have caused the damage to the PSU, so before i go for a replacement i wanted to ask in here if someone had the same problem.

SPECS:

Intel Core2Duo @E8500 3.16 ghz.
ASUS P5QL Pro Motherboard
ATi Radeon HD5770
Creative X-FI Titanium fatal1ty pro
Corsair 650W PSU
4 GB Ram

Thanks.
