Write thread120 Hz on Laptop

Right ,
Got a new laptop yesterday with a I7 , 7970 AMD graphics card. Trying to get 120 Hz on it but cant. Tried 3 different DVI cables , Tried using a DVI - HDMI converter but still cant get 120 Hz. I have a samsung 2233rz monitor and when i rang up PCSpecialist they said it wasnt compatible with the Graphics Card.
Anyone have any ideas if this is right or is it something else ?
