New Gaming PC - First time building

Ok so I may soon be investing in a new pc, this time I think I'll get the parts and put it together myself as I gather it's cheaper. Basically I'm just looking for any advice you guys can give especially recommendations of parts.

Budget is between £800 and £1000 (this is just for the pc itself, I already have a monitor/mouse/keyboard etc)

Fairly obviously I would use it for gaming, I'm currently playing Guild Wars 2 although may return to CS:GO sometime in the future.

Finally is there a website where I can build the pc and it'll compare prices from a few different well known ones?

My current specs are:
Processor - Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q8200 @ 2.33GHz, 2327 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s)
6GB RAM
ATI Radeon HD 4800 Series
