120hz Viewsonic VX2265wm review

After my post about having a 120hz monitor or not, I decided to try it out for myself. I found a hardware store in the US who shipped it to Denmark for 90£.

The sale went really well, 4 days after I ordered it, I had it at home.

For the review:

The monitor is REALLY good looking, the picture is clean and even I a CRT lover, actually enjoys this monitor. I unwrapped it, set it up, there is a bit with the stand, if you tend to push your table a bit the monitor will bounce a bit(in rage stages don't smash your table :-D). The native resolution is 1680x1050 WS 22", and as Callisto said about the Samsung monitor, it can scale down either stretch or black bars (I really recommend the black bars due to the monitor will fry your brain otherwise).

The time has come for me to try css. I went in, didn't realize the fact that I could get black bars at first, so I just went on with 1024x768 like on CRT. This made my head hurt so bad - after some research about WS LCD displays, I got into the Nvidia control panel and put it to "Do not scale". Tried it in various resolutions but went with my former CRT resoution. It's a bit annoying having it in "Windowed" mode, since there will be black bars beneath and ontop of the screen aswell due to the high native resolution.
My experience with the refresh rate is that it works PERFECTLY, it litteraly feels like im playing on a CRT, I think it's just a matter of getting used to the monitor. You can do either 100hz 110z or 120hz, I prefer 120hz and fps_max 120.

The only minus I could find on this monitor were that the gamma/brightness control do not work on the monitor itself when running 120hz. It's a fabrication error, so it will be at 100% at 120hz - It does not annoy me, since I would have wanted in that area aswell, but for people who love to watch movies etc. I could imagine this would be a negative factor.

Overall a really great monitor, im glad I finally bought a TFT. The looks is awesome, the picture is immense and the size is great compared to my old 30kg monitor.
