The Imperial Lose CS:S Team
@ Scene news channel

At the end of 2009 The Imperial decided to venture into the European scene on their search for a team to support.

Their search eventually took them to MoD - previously known as über G33KZ, who had been improving dramatically since the completed lineup was formed at the beginning of the year. With the wisdom and experience of ex-ROCCAT players Henrik 'FeTiSh' Christensen and Steffen '3k2' Markussen mixed with the raw talent of Jesper 'purityy' Larsen, Kristoffer 'gravityy' Søholm and Bo 'wantz' Vestergaard it was little wonder that big things were expected of them.

The team struggled at first but progressed well towards the end of the year, placing higher than expected at TeX before joining up with The Imperial and replacing Steffen '3k2' Markussen with Victor 'v1ctor' Neergaard in time for the winter LAN season, where again they performed excellently at both SLAP #19 and Dreamhack. No matter how well they performed at major events though first place always seemed to elude the side, that was to change firstly in the EMS, where they defeated Alternate in the final to take home first place - albeit online. The teams first big win would come at the inaugural DSRack LAN where they saw off Burning, H2k, MCA, DSRack, XLBet and more to win the event in convincing fashion.

During that weekend the team also won the DEL season two, making it two in a row. That saw them climb to second in Cadred's monthly top10 rankings, proving they had now become a dominant force in the European scene. Their first major event win would come at the Copenhagen Games earlier this month as they emphatically beat a host of top teams including Power Gaming, Alternate Attax and last years team of the year Reason Gaming.

The recent success seems to have changed some of the players mindsets as they have decided to leave the Imperial organisation after a very successful few months. Their reasoning behind the move is that they feel they are now one of the best teams in Europe and deserve the perks that go with the title. They will be on the lookout for another organisation to support them in future but until they find one they will be using the über G33KZ tag. The team have left on good terms with the organisation and are thankful for everything they have done for them.

Victor 'v1ctor' Neergaard said the following on The Imperial website:

Today we annouce our departure from The Imperial. We have chosen to do this because of our developement during the past 6 months under The Imperial name. We have gone from being on the outside of the European top 10, to being one of the best teams at the moment and we want to see what other opportunities are out there for us.

Thankfully, The Imperial have agreed to cancel our contracts so we can do so. A special thanks to Chris, Oli, and Kapil for our stay with The Imperial, and we wish them all good luck in the future. We are currently looking for a new organization that we can represent. In the meantime, we will go under our previous name of über G33KZ. Interested organizations can contact us at: #g33kz on quakenet IRC

Or email at: viggo443@gmail.com

Chris 'MelloW' Marsh, Imperial manager also said the following:

Unfortunately, we have agreed to part ways with our Counter Strike Source team. We have enjoyed watching them develop as a roster from a team around the fringes of the top 10, to possibly the #1 team in Europe. The team have achieved a lot under The Imperial name and they will be missed. Around the turn of the year, we had a number of unforeseen problems with former partners which meant we were back logging payments into the New Year.

Although we did not anticipate any problems going forward, the team are hoping for more security going forward in their quest to become the undisputed kings of Europe. This, along with their desire to attend LANs outside of the contract is their primary and understandable reasons for leaving. We have therefore agreed that the team will be allowed to cancel their contracts before the expiration date as we do not wish to hinder their progress as an esports team going forward. The Imperial will be taking a break from European CSS, but will undoubtedly be back with another high profile roster within the coming weeks and months. I’d like to say that it’s been a pleasure to work with these guys and wish them luck in the future.

über G33KZ are:

Henrik 'FeTiSh' Christensen
Jesper 'purityy' Larsen
Kristoffer 'gravityy' Søholm
Bo 'wantz' Vestergaard
