June's Cadred TF2 Top Ten
@ Spotlights channel

The Cadred Top Ten returns for the best in the European TF2 scene!

We are using the same regulations as other ranked games on Cadred: Fifteen votes will go into each month's rankings, ten of which are from the previous month's top ten teams, and five of which are from our panel members, who will vote every month.

The points system remains simple: a first place vote earns that team 10 points, 9 points are awarded for second place, and so on.

On page two you can read who the panel members are, and see their thoughts and opinions on this month's rankings.

Duncan "dunc" Wraight

Duncan is a regular top ten contributor.

He boasts an impressive TF2 CV, having captained the likes of what women want, TCM-Gaming, Ubersexuals and the TF2 England national team.

The grumpy Geordie doesn't suffer fools kindly, although he still finds the time to play medic for the legendary Team Dignitas.

"I’m in a rush tonight and not quite feeling myself; so I’ll be keeping it short and sweet. TCM-Gaming can’t be faulted again this month, with the rotation of Byte and numlocked finding it’s swing. Is the new line-up better than the old one? Hard to say, but they are still the hardest working team on the scene.

I Don’t Know? have continued their fall from grace and have been piss-poor this month, particularly when getting destroyed by TCM. Whilst my very own Team Dignitas had some blonde moments, I have no qualms in ranking us above them in June. Power Gaming has a decent run in EMS considering line-up changes and were convincing in defeat against idk?.

Broder have been troubled by missing a demomen, whilst k1ck have proven themselves worthy. As for the rest I might as well close my eyes and pick them out of a hat. The top ten is pretty meaningless is these lazy summer days, but ASM and i40 will give us some concrete evidence soon enough."

Dave "dave" Hopton

Dave is part of Cadred's TF2 team. He concentrates fully on the supporting the scene, and unfortunately doesn't play the game as much as he would like, but in the past was a top Division 2 player in Team YoYoTech.

Dave works as an admin for ETF2L, is a leading voice on ETF2L Radio and also helps out at Vanilla TF2; as if this wasn't enough, he's also amazingly attractive and an all-round incredible guy. This certainly qualifies him to be part of our respectable panel.

"As the Summer League kicks off, we have a few more interesting results to look at this month to try and determine the rankings. For me, TCM still take the top spot. They've got some games to catch up on in ETF2L, but after taking a convincing victory against idk? in the 3rd round of the 6th EMS Season, in comparison to Dignitas' slightly shaky result against k1ck, they remain the side to beat. The recent announcement of some summer line up problems however could put a stop to this good run, so we'll have to wait and see whether they can maintain their form.

That said, Dignitas' landslide result against last month's surprise side Broder shows that this new line-up could really restore them to former glory, and for me they take second place after idk? round off a slightly disappointing month. A lack of activity from the Power camp could be both good or bad in the run up to the Summer Assembly, but hopefully we will see this team of legends shake off their lethargic approach and really perform to become more serious title contenders.

The bottom end of the table for me remains very similar to last month. Although WeMadeFux enjoyed a meteoric rise, their demise opens a spot up for k1ck who proved in their aforementioned result against Dignitas that they are a side to be taken seriously. It would be especially great if some of these teams, including those pesky LAN-dodging Germans TLR, can make it to some of the summer events - I can only see them going from strength to strength if they did, and will consequently see them rise up in the tables."

James J. "Admirable" McDonnell

James is the (fore)head of TF2 coverage at Cadred. He concentrates on the daily coverage more than the others in the team. He has been a long time community enthusiasist.

James has played in the Irish national team and much-loved coolclan in the past. He currently taking some time out from playing to avoid failing at life.

He is also rumoured to be the best medic in Korea.

"This month I have the edge over my fellow panellists; as the compiler of the scores from teams and pundits I have the chance to see how everyone else is voting and potentially cast the deciding votes. Such power might corrupt lesser men, but not I... mwhaha!

I can see two rival camps in this month’s electorate, the conservatives who seek to maintain the status quo, too lazy to differ heavily from what has come before, and the liberals who want to do what is right and fair, choosing to strike off those teams who have not actually played in June.

One can question the relevance of a top ten ranking based solely on the month of June in which many teams saw fit to take a break; do we rank based on actual performance in June, or how the teams would stack up if they all played each other today, or some hybrid methodology?

Who knows? All I can say for sure is that TCM-Gaming are still the best team out there, and even those diligent souls have been taking a more relaxed approach to training of late. I Don’t Know? looked shockingly bad against the current #1 team recently, perhaps feeling the absence of pace-setting poldier, Arvin “cube” K.

Team Dignitas redeemed themselves of their dropped map versus k1ck, by making short work of rising stars Broder, who themselves took a bite out of F2’s boys yet managed to lose to Power Gaming in EMS. Outside of the aforementioned fixtures I have very little to work with in terms of making an informed decision, so I’ll just wing it as usual.

Out with those deadbeat teams; vaarwel FakkelBrigade, hasta la vista Mister, sayonara WeMadeFux. Bring me the upstarts; the k1ck’s, the illegal’s, the PENTIA’s. Am I a conservative or a liberal? I’ll let you decide. Viva La Revolución!"

Patrick "JimmyBreeze" Harvey

Patrick retired from captaining a TF2 team last year, but since then he's only become busier in TF2, taking up positions as an ETF2L admin and a columnist for Cadred.

Patrick is well known for his insightful, irreverent and sometimes subversive esports writing.

"A dry month, saved only by TCM being really good, k1ck and Broder being sort of interesting and Extremer’s supernatural pipe aim. At least we have some fun ETF2L games/pcws to watch now that Season 7.5 is underway. But still, I’m sure we all agree that August’s LANs can’t come soon enough."

Sivert "Torden" Bakkeng

Sivert is our newest top ten contributor.

Don’t be fooled though he is a grizzled veteran when it comes to competitive TF2, having risen to fame in the revered Weapons of the Rebellion\4Kings squad that produced many of today's top players.

He currently captains Team Norway and the Scandinavian upstarts, 7 brothers who aren’t brothers, playing the pivotal medic role for which he is recognised as one of the best in Europe.

"I’m sure you’ve read it 4 times already in this month’s feature, TF2 has entered summer drought. It comes at an interesting time, with the recent anarchy of Dignitas stepping down from the throne. Interestingly, being European and everything, it’s all about the demo”men”. Let’s take a look at a selection of the most imminent.

TCM: Strongest again, they are looking to be prime candidates to claim the old Dignitas throne. But, there’s danger ahead: Their demo is going away for July. I’d like to personally thank Numlocked for making sure teams stay even just a little bit longer.

Idk? The drought kicks in and 1 person takes on the job of letting everyone on his team know about it. I’d like to use this opportunity to ask my good friend Extremer to please put a sock in it.

Broder: Captain DMStore, Macisum discovers an oasis outside his house and decides to stay there for a while. Meanwhile, the brothers are left suspense, working against their 1-language handicap in finding a worthy substitute.

K1ck: If you’re like me, you’ve already scratched your head a few times wondering, ”Who the hell is Vali”. Fact remains, I learned a new spot for hiding stickies on Badlands (a greater feat than discovering a new natural element) last week…and it’s all thanks to this man. He could very well prove to be a wildcard this summer.

The drought is far from over. Some teams have already pressed the folding panic button. My friends, take a deep breath and relax, it will be over before you know it. In the meantime, k1ck back and enjoy the summer!"

You'll be able to catch more thoughts from our panel with Cadred's July Rankings in a few week's time!
