Evil Geniuses hit it off on the terrorist-side of the first game on de_tuscan. The entire American team stood out – n0thing went headshot crazy once again, fRoD's AWPing was nearly flawless, Lurppis pulled the team through tricky situations and Storm sprayed that Ak-47 as if his life depended on it. Besides that, the American tactics were perfectly executed and were very effective. The Ukrainians won only one round during the first half of the game, which is rather remarkable for Na'Vi. Markeloff and Zeus were the two Ukrainians who stood out the most, however the rest of the team remained quiescent. Whether the Ukrainians were simply attempting to study the American strats remains unclear, however one thing is definite – the Ukrainians had lost their aim during the first half of the game.
The second half started off with a cheeky plant on the A bombsite, which could have worked out very well, but the Americans retook the site in the blink of an eye and got themselves another round. In the second round the bomb was planted at the B bomsite, albeit the round once again went to the Americans, who had won the first game 16 go 1.
The Evil Geniuses were on top of their game during the match on de_tuscan, while Na'Vi were clearly 'absent' throughout the entire game. The second match was destined to be intriguing.
Side, or 'alley', was the first place the Americans decided to hit. The Ukrainian markeloff held the Americans back, getting two headshots with the USP and in effect ruining the American strat. The Ukrainians awakened from hibernation and the first three rounds quickly went by in their favor. In the fourth round the Ukrainians ran into some trouble, however for a moment it seemed as if markeloff was going to save the day – alas, he failed. Na'Vi's markeloff clearly did not appreciate the fact that they lost the game on the previous map, seeing as he stepped his game up the moment the first half started. Markeloff was not the only one to represent the Ukrainians well, starix and his aim held a phenomenal spectacle for the 8000 HLTV spectators; not to mention the horror brought to the Americans by Edward and his silenced M4. The first half ended with the score of 13 to 2, in favor of the Ukrainians.
n0thing, still celebrating hereAs soon as the second half started it was blatant who was going to win. The first two rounds quickly went by in the favor the Ukrainians; markeloff nicely outwitted the Americans during the first. The third round almost went to EG, however Edward was there to carefully guide the round into the Ukrainian hands. Ukrainian victory, 16 to 2.
The last match was played on de_inferno, my personal favorite. With the Ukrainians starting on the CT side of the map, I thought the that the Americans had no chance to win this. The first three rounds quickly went to Na'Vi, once again. Starix and markeloff pulled off a few amazing USP shots here and there, while fRoD busted out his glock skills and helped the Americans win their first round. The game was dominated by the Ukrainians, albeit the Americans managed to get three rounds. The Ukrainian Starix and markeloff stood out the most, both pulling of fantastic shots. Edward too did great, managing to even save a few rounds for Na'Vi. The Americans did less well, albeit n0thing and fRoD both had their moments. n0thing has been nothing short of phenomenal with the rifle all day, and fRoD has AWPed – and occasionally glocked – to an excellent standard. On a side-note, Lurpiss went crazy with the Galil on one round. The half ended with the score of 12 to 3, in favor of the Ukrainians.
In the second half the things did not look much brighter for the Americans – once again the first three rounds went to Na'Vi; Edward got the Ukrainians out of the tricky situation in the first round, using nothing but a glock. The fourth round went to the Americans, all thanks to fRoD, who not only outwitted the Ukrainians, but also out-aimed them with the Deagle. The Americans did not stand in the spotlight for long, however, as the Ukrainian dominance prevailed once again and the game was quickly won 16 to 4.
The American Evil Geniuses have now been eliminated by the Ukrainian Natus Vincere, who will advance into the finals of the Arbalet Cup in Dallas. Stay tuned with us; Cadred is here to bring the premier coverage.
