In the event that ESL receives over three genuine applications (imagine that!), an invite-based tournament will be held in order to select two South American teams worth sending to the IEM American Championship.

The Championship itself will be held from the 8th -10th October at New York City's very own ComicCon. Moreover, the Counter-Strike competition alone has a prize-pot totaling at $36,800 (~ €29,000); the competition is going to be a heated one.

Joining the two South American teams will be another six North American teams – the very finest of the NA CS scene, selected based on teams' results in the upcoming North American Group Stage, kicking off on the 4th of September.
