During an interview with our very own Richard Lewis the 1.6 legend claimed that CS:S was a much more tactical game than his game of choice, CS 1.6. He said:
We like to play CSS a lot, I think it is a lot different from 1.6, it's so much more tactical, I can see that we have better aim than some teams here, but they can do better, so I think it's a lot more tactical than 1.6.
The claim made by Gabriel caused furor amongst the hardline 1.6 community, with former fans coming out in their droves to curse the name of the man they once supported. Yet the negative reaction from "THAT" community doesn't seem to have fazed Gabriel, or his team-mate out at the CPH Games, former MiBR and CNB Gaming star Guilherme "spacca" Spacca who has agreed with the statement made.
I agree with FalleN, I even talked to him about it after he had read the comments on HLTV.org. 1.6 is a CS that has been explored a lot, new maps are not created, or if one is created, it won't become a big hit here in Brazil, because people always want to play on the same maps.
A time has come in which you no longer have tactics that will for sure catch an opponent blind on a bombsite, not moving, you only have something to catch him moving his crosshair or something.
CS has gone through an evolution over the years, but not in the tactical area, you always have the same positions.
In Source, and the people who play it know this, it has thousands of ways you can play.
CSS has not been much explored, it is always being constantly updated, de_inferno was changed one month and a half before Copenhan Games.
You can make use of tactics in CSS much more, you have new maps, de_season, de_contra..
His comments have once more caused uproar amongst the fanatical 1.6 players and pundits, with most people turning on him as they did with FalleN. Still, it's another in what is becoming a long line of 1.6 players who are slowly beginning to give CS:S some credit as a competitive title, the main question is, will the fans of 1.6 ever do the same?
