A New Home For The iSeries?
@ Scene news channel

After moving back to it's spiritual home at the Newbury Racecourse for i38, Multiplay have announced the possibility that the event could be relocated for i43 and possibly forever more, claiming that the new venue is the perfect LAN environment. The Telford International Center has already been provisionally booked for i43.

At the end of the day, however, it is down to the community where the iSeries shall be held. Whether the event should stay at it's spiritual home of Newbury or be relocated to Telford International Center, more central in the UK with entertainment close by, will be left in the hands of the consumer.

It will probably become a vote of North vs South but come Thursday, whoever wins will get the iSeries.

The thread by Craig "Wizzo" Fletcher reads:

So about those rumours...

As many of you already know (judging by the questions I got during insomnia42 ) we have been looking at venues to take the i-series forward again. Whilst Newbury is great and we love it to bits, we are struggling to grow the events there past a certain point and need to consider what the future for the i-series holds.

Right now with insomnia43 we are encountering problems making it as big as last year. The costs to erect additional structures, such as the "TF2 arena" from i40, have increased dramatically making it prohibitive. As a result, we could only be looking at a possible 1600 player summer event, which will leave a lot of disappointed people unable to get seats. However, we have another option...

Earlier this year the management team here at Multiplay visited the Telford International Centre, a family-owned venue just above Birmingham on the M54, so quite central in the UK. They are very keen to have the i-series events there. I have to say I was very impressed; essentially if I was building a venue for LANs from scratch, it wouldn't be far off this! It has a very similar feel to Stoneleigh park in terms of large halls, but with all the amenity, catering and transport problems fixed.

We have the dates of insomnia43 reserved at Telford, but we wanted to ask you our customers and community what you think before making a decision.
