The Call of Duty 4 scene is changing every day, with new clans joining in, from backgrounds outside the World War II Call of Duty times. We have brought you a chance to see just how well you know the top players in the scene. This week I have interviewed one of the top players, and will give you a chance to see if you can recognise who he (she?) is. You had your guesses, and people have got it right. So here is the full interview, where we discuss various factors in the CoD4 scene and Tek-9.

Welcome to the first of the Cadred Under the Spotlight CoD4 interviews. Some people have tried to guess who you are, but could you please introduce yourself to all our readers who have yet to work out exactly who is behind the distorted picture!
Hi, I'm Davy Sysmans and I have been interviewed way too many times! Currently playing cod4 somewhat actively with tek9. I've been with tek9 for over 3 years now and I'm planning to keep that record going. Also I turned 20 last November and don’t see myself quitting gaming yet!
Let’s hit the nail on the head, Call of Duty 4: is it as good as people are making it out to be? People are coming from CounterStrike, Battlefield and many more games. But in your opinion, is the game that good?
It's too early to say in my opinion; I think a lot is going to change in the first months (or even year) which makes it hard to make a clear opinion. But I'm enjoying it as it is and hope there won’t be too many changes anymore. But it's best to get back to me with that question in a year ;)
But will the game still be out in a year? Activision has already announced CoD5, and though InfinityWard aren't developing it, they have promised a CoD game every year. Surely this can't be good for the competitive gaming scene.
CoD5 will be developed by Treyarch as far as I know. And that means it's only for consoles. Won’t hurt the competitive scene.
Sticking with the competitive side of CoD4, what do you think about the current rule set that has been released in the new PAM, and the CDC4 rule set? Can you see these being the rules to stay?
PAM is not a rule set but implements a variety of rule sets which all can be used by entering a simple command! ;) I really like the CDC4 rules. Stopping power should really be on to have a fast exciting game with multikills and great clutches and all that. I don’t really care about the rest, just stopping power ON and of course the obvious ones OFF (juggernaut, rpgstuff etc...)
One of the biggest controversies was Deep Impact, and hit blips through walls: a lot of people wanted these left on as they were an integral part of the game. They have been removed by a lot of big leagues, but what is your opinion on the "spray and pray" style of gameplay you get with Deep Impact on?
I don’t really care if it's on or not. Though it's quite annoying sometimes that you hit someone like 10-13 times through a wall without that person dying... I just go with the flow in all fairness, not going to moan about it being in or not. I just want stopping power to be on!
Well I think you are going to get your way by the looks of things. But what do you think CoD4's chances are of achieving big success in the wider world. Do you agree with a lot of people that CoDTV is an absolutely necessity if it wants to "go large"?
CoDTV is a MUST for cod4 to get really big. IW has been quite positive about codtv so it seems like it's going to happen and that would be a huge boost for cod4. Though the game still can get big without it. Even cod2 got a WSVG! (harhar)
The CGS have changed the style of CS:S, making it far more a spectator sport (now having ample supplies of money to buy items): you could already argue that CoD4 already has the simplicity needed to make it a big spectator sport. But can you see it challenging CS:S for that spot of Number 1 FPS game around?
And can you see The CGS bringing the game on?
I don’t think cod4 is that simple considering the huge amount of perks. There have been rumours about the CGS considering CoD4. It would obviously be a great step for them since CoD4 is way more spectator friendly than CSS. I'm obviously biased here but I don’t like CSS at all (sry boys =) ).
There will be a lot of people here at Cadred that would disagree with you, but hopefully CoD4 will be given the chance to prove you right! Let’s move away from general CoD4 and come to you in Tek9: since this is a predominantly CS based site, could you please introduce your current team to our readers.
Everything you need to know about tek9 you can find
here! The tek9 orga is mainly known in the cod-series since we have had a topteam for years and have had great achievements including winning WSVG Dallas and Eurocup XV!
Currently you are down to only 3 players though, after you lost L-King and Hiya. Has there been any news about who is going to replace those two to complete your line-up?
No! I've seen many rumours and it's quite amusing ;p. People will just have to wait and see.
Can we expect to see the news soon?
I can’t say, we've been quite inactive and have only played with a select few. It might be a week, it might be months. We might even test people by playing at lans with us. Which is always risky but sometimes needed to get the right people.
What are you future plans, both online and offline for CoD4?
Well, we have been top three at every event we participated offline since the eurocup XIII in 2006. That would be around 8-9 events in a row. That's a streak you don’t see that often in gaming and we hope to continue this pace.
Which particular events are you planning to go to?
All of the big ones like CDC4, i33, the 3rd tek9 event... I'm sure lots of others will pop-up.
Do you think you will be able to replicate the form that you had in CoD2? There have been a lot of new teams forming recently, with some big names: who would you say is your closest competition?
If we get a line-up on time and get enough practises I think we should be able to continue our cod2 run. Our core is very strong and we just need 2 suited players and we're off to go! The teams that put the most time into cod4 atm like EYE, LGT,.. will be big competitors. Also I expect teams coming from other games to do good as well.
What would you say to a team of players from another game thinking to join the CoD4 community and start playing the game competitively?
The cod-community is all about lans mostly! Attend as many lans as possible and do well at them to get the respect you need! Also just keep practising even if things don’t go so smooth at the start. The cod-teams know the gameplay a lot better at the moment but you just need time to get used to it and then you're set!
Well thank you for those words Davy and it has been a pleasure to interview you. Are there any final shoutouts you would like to make before we call it a day?
Shoutouts to the cadred community! Don’t be offended by my opinion on CSS, it's just an opinion of one person. Shoutouts to Sniewarze, the kikooocommunity(especially the blonde god AKA gyoom), tek9, etc..! And to make it even more cliché: shoutout to Steelseries, Foxconn, ..
