Twitter... Whatever you think of it, it's certainly good for stirring up a hornets nest with either vague, cryptic statements or a 140 character outburst straight from the gut. Many a celebrity and sportsman have used it to both their benefit and detriment.
Now it seems e-sports are getting in on the act, this time specifically Michal "Carmac" Blicharz, manager of the Intel Extreme Masters on behalf of the ESL's parent company Turtle Entertainment.
In a fairly transparent attempt to again set off the old "will IEM be moving to CS:S" rumour mill that has been nestling in the ears of everyone who cares for about eighteen months, it seems he has decided to go down the route of teaser tweeting. However the tweets are so vague in their nature, deliberately so, that it's something that could just as easily be explained away as something entirely different.
The first tweet was simple enough:
Counter-Strike: Source.
This was then followed by:
Whatever happened to asking before jumping to conclusions? It's not like I'm unavailable for comments. Having said that... CS:S.
Funnily enough, taking the obvious bait hook, line, sinker and copy of Angler's Times, we went straight to the horse's mouth, who wasn't actually available for comment at the moment. We'll keep chasing him. He'll love the attention.
It's got to be said though if IEM were to make the move to CS:S either in place of or alongside 1.6 it wouldn't be overly surprising.
Senior people within Turtle Entertainment have said the following in the past:
We have been having these [talks about moving from 1.6 to css] every year since the css release.
Maybe now could be that time. We'll keep one eye on Twitter and the other eye... On something else. Maybe Reddit.
