Twitter eh? Who needs anything else now. A lazy journalists dream, there always seems to be something going on... Someone having a meltdown, someone smashing 140 characters of pure bile before realising they should have just took a deep breath and arguments galore.
Yesterday in what could be deemed either a non-story or something of a strange development, depending on what side of the fence you wish to occupy, Paul "ReDeYe" Chaloner revealed on his personal blog that the MLG president, the brilliantly named Sundance DiGiovanni, had been paying to increasing his Twitter following.
In his personal blog, which can be found
here, he noted how while in the course of testing out a new Twitter seeding facility for his company. In short, you buy "seeds" that encourage other people out there to follow you. The more of them you buy, obviously the more followers you generate.
Turns out that in the process of trialling the service he stumbled across a familiar name - one Sundance DiGiovanni. One can presume that there aren't many others with that name. Since signing up to the seeding site the MLG president's followers have steadily increased to amounts that seem high even based on the popularity of the league.
Paul ruminated in his blog:
Perhaps he just wants to “reach” more people in his industry, but I find it a bit odd that the CEO of a large esports company would be worried about how many people follow him on Twitter.
Is it morally wrong? Probably not and it’s certainly not illegal (even if it does border breaking Twitter’s own T&C’s) but it’s still pretty lame.
Following a showdown on Twitter Sundance made the decision to actually delete his Twitter account, although parts of the exchange still exist thanks to the archives.
Storm in an e-cup? More than likely... You guys can decide if it means anything at all.
