theSGL: SteelSeries CCL
@ General coverage channel

The regional (and in some cases national) divisions for the first SteelSeries Continental Challenge League (CCL) are now public. We have taken the advice of community figures from around Europe when it has come to seeding these teams and then gone through the whole structure to find teams without players on their rosters and generally remove those unable to play or in two instances those that have let us down in the recent past.

There are fourteen teams who applied and have perfectly eligible rosters but have not been included. Please do not take this as any sleight against yourselves, when we started running out of places we also took into consideration when the application was made and gave preference to those who applied earlier.

Do not despair however. I would be highly surprised if there were not some spaces that come up for grabs before the season even starts - such is the nature of online gaming there is an unfortunate propensity for clans to disappear overnight. As and when these spaces become available these teams will be offered the chance to join in.

If we picked up a handful of applications from some South Eastern European teams i.e. Greece, Turkey, Romania then I can combine these with the four eligible Israeli teams and create another division. Sadly we cannot include all the Israeli teams at this time and have chosen to include one representative from this area we know to have consistently played with the larger pings their geographical location forces upon them.

Whilst you can of course find the entire league structure on display on this page (with each individual team and their fixtures) the league divisions themselves are :

Central Europe
Eastern Europe
Southern Europe
Western Europe
Northern Europe
Finland Premiership
France Premiership
Germany Premiership
Hungary Premiership and Division One
Norway Premiership and Division One
United Kingdom Premiership and Divisions One, Two and Three.

As you can see we have sixteen divisions of ten teams on show with some countries really embracing the idea of the CCL and entering in huge numbers. It would be wonderful of course to include more national divisions next time around, but I think there is more than enough to keep us busy for the immediate future.

Matches begin on Tuesday of next week (27th November) and we ask you please consult the rules and faq section for further details and general guidelines. (I'll have these up as fast as I can type them - I wanted to get the divisions out to you as fast as possible)

Finally for now, the thirty two teams in the Continental Cup which will run alongside this league structure will be chosen over the next 24 hours. To answer what will no doubt become a FAQ : Yes, teams in the Continental Cup will play in the main League as well.

More detail on everything will come shortly!
