Scene Breakdown #1 - UK CS:Source
@ General coverage channel

A while back Carbs from Regret wrote an article about the UK scene and submitted it to Cadred, where we posted it, and it got one of the biggest responses to any article we've had on here. However, a lot of the feedback was negative, as people thought certain teams (like Regret) didn't deserve a mention. It made me think that even though that wasn't executed so well, the readers obviously enjoyed articles like that, and it provoked a big response from the community, so I've re-done it. If people want we can write a similar article on other scenes in the future, so just let us know what you think of it. Just to clarify, the teams mentioned are in no order other than the one I thought of them, so don't complain if one team is lower than another.

London Mint
url HenryG jon0o beta Hughsy

Generally considered the five kings of the UK scene (excuse the pun), this team has been the dominant force for some time, consistently proving themselves both nationally and internationally. With a list of achievements that embarasses any other team (with a consistent roster) in the UK, and now being drafted for CGS, Mint have done everything really worth aiming for. All that's left for them now is to see how well they do in LA.

Birmingham Salvo
Mangiacapra AdY Harriman pete RattleSnK

Although new to Source, Salvo have shown everyone over the past few months how much they have improved. There were a lot of skeptics originally, but anyone who saw how they played at CGS is confident of their play now. Between them they have more experience than anyone else in the CSS scene, and it's shown in how quickly they improved their gameplay.

xciteuk
tiLs jaFro callisto vpr shivers

Formed from the ashes of Team Zboard and maintaining the same core lineup (without ben0), xciteuk have minimal results but a lot of reputation. They will need to make a big performance at i32 to regain the respect they had in Zboard, but I'm sure they will be able to with players of that high a calibre.

infused Gaming
ryy farley jamor w1p Gandofini Death

Although infused have gone through numerous roster changes over the past few months, they've consistently proven themselves as a top team, and maintained a core to the team throughout. Although one of their best players, Millen has quit CSS, they are bringing in Gandofini and Death to replace him, which should strengthen the team, providing they can keep a solid roster.

Liberty
Friza geo HaGGiS Arak Stannly

Much in the same boat as xciteuk and a few other teams, Liberty are a team with lots of well known and respected players, but no results to back up their reputation. Over the next few months we will see whether their skill matches their prowess, and just as questionably, whether they can back it up at LAN.

Team Ebuyer
Fraz tomm ins wilzOOO mx Rossar

Ebuyer are a team who most of the scene accepts can play well, but they rarely back it up. Suffering from inactivity ever since winning their sponsorship, they haven't really done anything to validate their winnings. However, there have been brief moments of light since then, most notably beating NoA in theSGL. If their commitment ever matches their potential then I'm sure Ebuyer will turn some heads, but it's up to them to decide how important it is to them.

Tigit
Ace Exume radon splatio trepje

This team was announced a few days back, and includes some well respected players who have performed well in the past. However, the majority of their players have been inactive for a considerable amount of time, and whether they have kept up with the changes in the game will be shown over the next few weeks. They have said that if it doesn't work out then they will be quitting CSS, which doesn't seem very positive in terms of commitment, but I'm sure if they manage to keep it together then they could pull off some nice results.

eSourceUK
Fierce Speed Slow Nayden Rambo m1keh

Up until recently, eSource have had one of the most consistent lineups in UK CSS. Although they've had 2 changes recently, eSource have grown immensely as a team over the past year. When they were frantiC they didn't get much respect from the community and we're considered "ED Heroes", but they have done their best to step out of that category in uQ and eSourceUK, and are aiming to compete at a European level. Although I can't see them challenging any top teams, they have secured themselves a comfortable spot just below.

engine on mute
Optrix bukio shane maarc Deadcell Everlast

Created from the core of the Planet 6 team, as well as adding Deadcell to their roster, eom are a team with a lot of potential. Although they haven't achieved much as a team, Planet 6 have done well at iSeries in the past, as has Deadcell with Alba Gu Bra. They don't have any official results to go on yet (as far as I know, correct me in the comments if I'm wrong) but I'm fairly confident they can impress people on the UK scene, and hopefully in Europe if they get their practice in.

Complete Control
Tucker Debaser MadDave Quiver Techno nutsey

An underdog in the UK scene, cC have a new team with some very good players, and have produced some results to match early in their existence. Recently already beat Infused, Edge and TLR, they will be looking to out grow the shadow of the previous cC teams (who have limited success) and be taken seriously on an international scale, and they are very much on the right track to doing so.

TLR
Pez monstar Ewaf IceO Remy steg

Having moved from eMg and suffering from major roster changes in the midst, TLR haven't had much success so far, but definitely have the potential to change this. Most of the team has been in succesful teams in the past, and will know what they need to do to improve under their new organisation.

Team Wipeout Carrel Hairboi Duck Aequitas Kentish snR

Although they've been around for a while, people may not know them under this new organisation. They used to be nV, and they've been around the UK scene for a while now, but have never really broken out to the EU scene. However, they've got some really good players and a lot of potential, and if they put the practice in and make the effort they could definitely challenge the best the UK has to offer.
