The first semi final match-up was between Danish side mTw and Swedish upstarts ESC Gaming. mTw had earlier come through a tough quarter final match against Moscow 5, a match that went the distance before mTw could finally secure their spot in the semi's. ESC Gaming on the other hand had the morning off after qualifying directly to the semi final by winning their group, having an extra rest can sometimes prove problematic though and it was clear in the first game that they were well off the pace.
mTw opened up the scoring and continued until they had a comfortable 5-0 lead before gifting a round to their Swedish opponents. ESC managed to put three rounds on the board before mTw snapped back into action, picking up the remaining rounds in the half to take a 12-3 lead into the T side. After switching they conceded just one round before shutting out ESC to take de_inferno 16-4. With their backs against the wall ESC managed to fight back against their Danish rivals in the second map, after losing the pistol round on de_train they pushed hard on the fourth, starting a run which would see them take a heavy lead into the second half.
mTw tried hard to mount a comeback but it was too little too late and ESC put them out of their misery before long, 16-9. The third map was much less one sided and both teams began trading round for round, with mTw taking the advantage late into the first half and forcing their opponents out for the remainder, winning 10-5. After switching sides the round-trading continued before mTw once more stepped up to secure a run of rounds which would see them put the match past their opponents and claim a spot in the grand final.
Joining them will be SK Gaming after an epic semi-final clash with Ukrainian giants Na`Vi. The Swedish side seem to finally be clicking and with the addition of Markus 'Delpan' Larsson they finally have an AWP'er who can compete with the worlds elite. Their first map 16-4 win shocked everyone but on map number two things were very different, Na`Vi are an incredibly strong team on de_train and it showed with a dominant performance. Map number three was much closer but in the end SK Gaming proved too strong for their opponents, shutting them out on the CT side of de_inferno to secure their ticket to the grand final.
The all Scandinavian grand final will be played in just over an hours time in the DreamArena Extreme, it's going to be good.
