Although last month's top 10 sparked up a huge amount of controversy, we are back once again with our European Top 10 CS:Source Rankings. With CGS, Wonderbase, Digital Life and Pro-LAN.it taking place, as well as the SGL tournament finishing, we have had a lot of things to base our rankings on, and we've done our best to encompass all the changes you guys asked for last month. We've changed the format this month, and while we are still taking into account the staff's opinions, we have asked for the opinions of our panel of top players also, and developed a points system. We won't be releasing names of players unfortunately, but I assure you we got a wide range of top players from all around Europe to vote. Anyway, here we go :
|
In this section we give you a brief overview of each team, and their history. Clicking the team-names in the above rankings will also take you to that team's overview.
Topping the list once again, despite their results at CGS. Although I personally had them at number 2, it seems the community is still behind them, and I'm sure now Sandor is back they will fulfill their role at #1 once again.
Having been a surprise pick at the CGS draft, they managed to prove their worth by beating Magnetik in the Euro championships at LAN. Consisting of players who have been at the top of the scene for years, it seems the community is supporting them 100%.
Having shocked everyone with their new lineup, beating both Allianz and fnatic numerous times in the Omega Sektor, Magnetik have proved their worth and shown that their practice over the last few months has paid off.
Despite a disappointing show at the CGS, this team have been the pioneers of UK gaming for some time, and showed why in the UK Championships a few days ago. They also managed to beat Insignia Cadre in the finals of the Tournament.com competition, and are undoubtedly one of the best teams in European gaming.
Although this team has been inactive lately, whenever they put in the effort they can shock anyone, and have done it at numerous LANs over the past year. Although they are ranked fifth, I'm sure if they were to play more they could climb up this ladder very rapidly.
With a new lineup and little proven so far, it seems their roster and reputation is setting them with high standards to match. They must be tearing up the PCW scene to validate a placing this highly amongst the top players, and lets hope they can back it up at LAN.
Having come off an impressive win at Pro-LAN.it, a nice run in the CGS qualifiers, and continuously doing well in ESL, Alternate Attax have won the public over and have finished a well deserved seventh place.
Very much in the same boat as Insignia Cadre, Reason come into this with their reputation preceeding their results. With very little to go by other than PCW results, they have been placed at a very debatable eighth place. However, the skill of the players is under no question at all, with almost all of their players coming from top teams, and I'm sure if they reach their potential they will validate this position completely.
With a new lineup consisting of both top 1.6 and source players, they haven't proved much as of yet. However, topsiikrt has never done us wrong, and the guys from flatline have all shown how well they adapted to CSS in the past, so with the addition of Samitsky there is absolutely nothing to stop them reaching the prestige their old squads produced.
A new entry to our top ten, the 1.6ers proved their worth at CGS, where they managed to embarass all of their competition numerous times. Although they suffered from a large defeat to Magnetik in a challenge match, they managed to consistently beat both the London Mint and Team Zboard, showing that they have adapted to the game incredibly well.
Since we used a points system this month, there were numerous teams who got votes but just missed out. They stand as follows :
Copenhagen eSports, eSuba, catch23, MGC, Zboard Wizards
So there you have it guys. I would say I hope it's better than last time, but we all love a good bit of controversy anyways. It's a hard time to rank teams as there is a big split between the CGS teams and the others in terms of competition and preparation, but we've done our best to incorporate it all as best we can to keep up with the once a month thing. Feel free to offer any advice on how we can improve it for next time and we'll take it all on board, providing you continue to keep it mature and logical. That's it for this month, but be sure to keep an eye out for the rank updates, monthly, here at Cadred.org!
