@ Scene news channel

S2 Games, the company behind the hugely popular Heroes of Newerth have announced a partnership which will see their biggest title featured in the next season of the North American Star League.

With the recent success of the companies main competitor, League of Legends, they have been forced to up their game with regards to the competitive circuit, as such they have been working hard to secure various partnerships and tournaments set to spring up in the coming months. S2 broke the news that they had big plans for HoN recently at E3 and since then the community have been eagerly awaiting the first of these announcements.

The North American Star League is considered one of the biggest and most competitive SC2 leagues in the continent and features many of the worlds best players, including the likes of Moon, NaDa, BoxeR, IdrA, MC and many more. This weekend see's the season finals take place with a huge $100,000 prize pot. HoN will be the only other game featured in the NASL for season two and will continue to feature as long as the demand is there.

It is no doubt huge news for the Heroes of Newerth scene and will be a shot in the arm for everyone who plays. It doesn't quite end there though as in an exclusive interview with esfiworld.com Heroes of Newerth e-sports manager Shashi Singh revealed that there is much more to come from S2 Games in future.

He said:

The partnership is one of the many big things we are currently working on. It's the start of some great things. There are other things we are working to finalize right now. In the coming weeks, we'll be announcing a lot of things that will turn a lot of heads. In regards to NASL and what they've done so far with StarCraft 2, I like what they've done with their streams and the goals that they have, and I thought that it really fits into the goals that HoN is striving towards as well. NASL, again, is just one of the things we are working on and it should become a good example of what we are doing to expand the current scene.

NASL is a big partnership but it's just one thing we're working on. The HoN circuit will be one of the bigger announcements that we will be making in the coming weeks or months. I will say that, most of the S2 Games staff have been involved in eSports and the competitive scene as players, managers and media alike, and this circuit is going to do something different...something big for the players...something on a much larger scale with a larger prize pool and one of the biggest in eSports when it's announced. It will be a pleasure for the players to play in and the media, third-party sponsors and partners will have this circuit catered to them especially.

It looks like the battle for supremacy just got a whole lot more interesting, your move, LoL.
