With group D being the final group to come to an end, GameGune 2011 will soon be moving on into the elimination phase. As with the rest of the groups everything in group D went as planned with ESC Gaming coming out on top.
It was down to the match between ESC Gaming and Moscow Five that would decide who would progress in to the elimination phase in the first place position however as many expected ESC closed the Russians out with moderate ease leaving Moscow Five with only 8 rounds for their efforts.
It did come as a slight surprise to most when the eventual number one spot team lost out to some little known players in the form of LowLandLions, though despite their efforts they have almost failed to make it out of the group stages even after they received four forfeit rounds from the Moscow Five for using their manager for the final four rounds of their encounter.
The 3rd place spot will come down to a MR5 overtime match up between LowLandLions and the Spanish team DN-Gaming has they both lie on the same amount of points, and without a standard procedure being clearly stated in the event's rules. Despite already having beaten LowLandLions, DN-Gaming will have to face them again to seal their fate in the group stages.
The other two teams left wondering where it all went wrong are the two unfortunate hopefuls the Portuguese x-function and the Spanish Lagunak.
