Heroes of Newerth F2P
@ Scene news channel

With DotA 2 potentially showing itself at Germany's Gamescom next month, Heroes of Newerth has now become free to play! Just like Team Fortress 2 it seems they are trying to gain as many players as possible before it is released.

So many of you will ask how it works and it's rather strange how they have gone about it. Like many of us we will say the usual "Can't believe I paid now it's free!" well what S2 Games have done is for those existing accounts you gain a title of Legacy. Legacy accounts will seperate the current players from the sudden spam of newbies joining the ranks of Newerth and also will allow full access to all HoN heroes. Legacy accounts can no longer be purchased.

For those joining the game will have a basic account, they will have restricted access to almost everything. The account will remain basic untill a certain amount of games have been played and/or the purchase of Goblin Coins. They will only be able to use a rotating pool of 15 heroes with the option to purchase new ones. Also will not be able to play Legacy Players untill the account is upgraded.

"With the transition to free-to-play we're opening HoN up to new audiences as our players can now easily introduce the game to their friends," - said S2 Games CEO and co-founder Marc Deforest "S2 has a serious level of commitment to our players to continuously improve both the game and their experience. With the new account types and match-making standards in place, both novice and existing players will benefit from the upgraded structure."

Heroes of Newerth is an alternative option to those who dislike Dota or LoL or for those who just love this style of game. Players are split into teams of 5 or 3 depending on the map you play. Spawning on two different sides, Like most other games the objective is to destroy the other teams main building or kill them to the extent of them wanting to forfeit the game. There are 3 main lanes for each side which is supported by allied and enemy towers.
