Last year the MSI BEAT IT series featured tournaments for both Counter Strike and Quake Live. This year, however, things have changed as they have decided to remove Quake Live and instead have brought in DotA remake, Heroes of Newerth.
Both games will feature identical prize pools consisting of approximately $30,000 in cash as well as over $15,000 worth of MSI hardware to be distributed amongst the qualified teams. For each game, multiple qualifiers will be held over the course of next few months allowing teams to battle it out for a place in the finals at Dreamhack Winter this November.
The Counter Strike tournament will be made up of one team qualified from North America, one from South East Asia and the rest will all be decided through European qualifiers as well as the top two finishers at the Dreamhack Winter BYOC Counter Strike tournament. Dreamhack will also host some of their own regional qualifiers for the tournament as well as inviting back the winners of Dreamhack Summer, SK Gaming, who have automatically qualified for the event.
Heroes of Newerth will have similar qualifiers however none of them will be region specific, each of them allowing two teams to qualify. For both games, each qualified team will also receive $1,000 for their troubles.
The BEAT IT Prize Pool is as follows:
$16,000+ 5 MSI GT780 Laptops
$8,000 + 5 MSI Motherboards
$4,500 + 5 MSI Graphic Cards
4th: $3,000
