Edge also recently finished third in the Intel Core2Duo challenge, where they were a huge underdog at the start but surprised everyone in the finals. Now, as the second team from the United Kingdom to win atrip to the Region 3 CGS Combine, Edge.css will have the opportunity to be drafted to a franchise by General Managers to compete as an entity in the first ever global gaming league.
We had a chance to catch up with Mark "Ewaf" Porter of Edge.css on his team's astounding win.
What are your thoughts on CGS?
At first I was very skeptical about CGS, and it didn't really take my fancy. We got a few CGS practice matches and the game play is a lot faster paced, with 16k start money and short round times. I believe CGS is what Counter Strike: Source needs, as it gives 1.6 players a huge incentive to make the jump to Source, and is a very well-run organization. It has got a lot of publicity behind it which is perfect for relatively unknown teams like us. I think it will do very good things for Source, and e-sports in general.
