Two announcements came out of the ESWC today. The first being, unsurprisingly, that the WC3 competition is to be cancelled and more sign-ups allocated to the darling of e-sports, Starcraft 2.
The other news is that registration to all tournaments has been opened for the countries that don't have qualifiers. The fee will be $200 per player and there will still be a selection process in place with decisions about who can attend being made by the tournament organisers.
This seems to have put the kibosh on those hoping to hold out for invites but it does beg the question what would happen if no-one was biting, even if the price of $200 is a lot lower than what had been touted at previous events.
