Coldrush vs Aksioo Gaming Group |

Coldrush didn't fare too well at the hands of Human Dark Side in their first outing in the event last week as they fell 16:09 before the Russian outfit. For the most part the victors simply outplayed Coldrush for the majority of the game and without WizZ0r's contribution to the team (as by far the best player on the night picking up a carry award in the process) things could have looked much more one sided. As I keep refering to though, every match is an entirely different prospect due to different maps being used each week so it woudl be folly to write of any team - expecially after just one match.
Aksioo Gaming Group still owe us a display of their skills after failing to turn out for last weeks tie. Assuming we do get to see them in action they have a roster drawn from a variety of teams familiar to many such as Forge, 4DFX and CONFRONTO. It all looks good on paper but it still remains to be seen how well it turns out on a server staring down the barrel at the onrushing enemy players. However it works out I'm going to plump for ColdRush to give a better account of themselves this time out in a close match.

Devoted.Gaming vs Request For Comment |

Devoted.Gaming were another team to suffer at the hands of cold Soviet steel last week (sorry I can't help it, it just sounds so dramatic!) as they finished second in a two horse race to the tune of 16:10. their opponents on that occasion were "Russian number one team" (yeah, I know - more about that in the next preview) C B H who pulled off a similar result to their countrymen HDS. There was a wide variety of performances on show that night against opponents of unknown skill (at least to me) so it will be good to gauge their skill when pitted against altogether more familiar adversaries tonight.
Request For Comment were denied an opening night chance to revisit their recent victory over Team Planet6 due to a reschedule but will be looking forward to this tie and the chance to finally get up and running in the season. After what could be considered a more than reasonable showing in the recent Intel Challenge and a good run of recent form this is a match that RFC will be thinking they can win.

C B H vs Human Dark Side |

There simply has to be a lot of competition between these two teams since they both hail from Russia and I have seen claims in various places with each team proclaiming to to b the #1 team from that nation. Sadly both teams have called for a reschedule here and the matter at hand will not be resolved tonight. One thing for sure though, when these two teams (who each won their opening ties) finally do go at it - you better keep out of harms way.
Prediction: N/A

Sykotic Gaming vs ctx.css |

Last week I said "The Sykotic Gaming organization has teams from many different countries and indeed different continents. Whilst being a pan European outfit their CSS team is strictly plucked from the sunny climes of Portugal. They haven't fared too badly in recent weeks either holding first place in their CAL division and homing in on the semi finals of the AVC event. These guys will definately prove to be a handful for ctx.css this evening." With no match played last week by Sykotic I'm saying exactly the same thing.
ctx.css faired slightly better than most in Championship group D last week as their opponents [ . L e v i t a t i o n . ] found their cunning scheme of not joining the server didn't work out in the long run costing them a default due to no prior notice being served. Again almost the same as last week with nothing extra to go on, as is the fashion at the moment there are a number of 1.6 players involved in the team (which is no bad thing at all as some of them are coming around to the idea that it could be time to move on - not me though!) The likelihood here is that Sykotic have a great deal more experience and possibly CSS know how than the CTX guys who may find it hard to make an impression on this tie.
Prediction: Sykotic <16-10> ctx.css

Anomaly vs [ . L e v i t a t i o n . ] |

Anomaly are good and I like them because they always turn up on time, play their game, get stuck in, give it all they have, then bugger off and don't come hassling if things didn't quite go their way. Not a great deal more I could wish from a team competing in theSGL really. Even if the Belgians turn out and make a match of it I can't see things going any other way than an Anomaly win having seen them on a few occasions lately.
[ . L e v i t a t i o n . ] didn't show up last time around (I'm going to put that on a bind to save time) and they haven't given us any greater indication of anything else this time around. My original preview on them mentioned their invite to the Euro Cup and results against some cracking teams, but frankly it doesn't mean much if you don't play your game fellas. I hope you do come and show us how good you can be and put on a real show, if not there will be a replacement team contesting this tie at a later date.
Prediction: Anomaly <16-08> [ . L e v i t a t i o n . ] SRCtv IP : 193.238.84.97:27022 Place a bet

lovethegame vs mySki |

lovethegame kick of their campaign for promotion with a default chalked up on their account (not their fault however after they replaced the apathetic LANSPORTS EXOTIC squad) and will be looking to bounce back and equalize things with a win tonight. Now i wasn't familiar with the team until ten seconds ago when I spotted the name on the roster hudz. That tells me a great deal, he was one of the highest rated and most consistent players in the Intel Challenge as ranked by SkillTracker during his tenure with r3-gaming. Surrounded by players of or approaching an equal skill level lovethegame have a good chance at not only promotion but the playoff itself.
mySki are very well known to most of the people reading this and have been around for a while (at least in CSS terms). The teamwork they have built up with their current team is what they will have to use to the max tonight as their opponents may not have gelled to any great extent yet and may be susceptible to a team resisting them shoulder to shoulder. A good contrast in styles should hopefully lead to a viewer friendly match.
Prediction: lovethegame <16-14> mySki SRCtv IP : 193.238.84.97:27023 Place a bet

Overtime.Source vs Alba Gu Bra |

I wish this would stop happening, there are so many 1.6 team names and squads of players I have been involved with for years turning their hand to source and adding a smattering of good names to the team it makes it hard to go against them even when I think I probably should. This time : Overtime.Source are the cause for consternation as Madspunk, Kurtis and Song backed by three points from an opening default from LANSPORTS EXOTIC look to take their first match against what can only be described as "enthusiastic" opposition.
I rated Alba Gu Bra as being a strong team in my last preview of them (even up against Anomaly (rescheduled match) and I didn't see much dispute of that other from within AlbaGuBra itself who found my selection of Deadcell as the "player to watch" rather amusing. Well I wont make the same mistake again fellas (having dropped the "player to watch" entirely with north of the border laughter still ringing in my ears). Suffice to say even with my 1.6 leaning I'm going to have to back the CSS team on this occasion whilst having my fingers crossed against my prediction.
