ONESIX.CSS vs SouthPark.CSS |
ONESIX.CSS ran into a spot of bother last week at the hands of Zboard Team or to more specific at the hands of the man himself : ben0 who turned in a match winning performance. ONESIX are certainly good enough to mix it with most teams at this level surviving by their experience from years of 1.6 play. Where they do fall down however is when they are unable to draw from their heritage, ie. on a map like contra. Last time out on contra they were made to look very ordinary indeed by an Asperity team that may have found it a much harder task on a different map. Don't get me wrong,I'm not trying to beat up on ONESIX - i really like em and have worked with the players for some time in the 1.6 leagues, but unless they have learned from their last outing on this map they're in for a torrid time tonight.
I'm going to resist the obvious temptation to type up a cliched south park based match preview here (though if i start to struggle for content I might use it as a fall back!). SouthPark.CSS hail from Greece, whilst they seemed to be a highly motivated and well organised squad they will be kicking off their season IV campaign without two key players (silent and hawkeye) and have drafted in two of their newer players (Jeffakos and sn4k3) to fill the breach. I'll have to reserve a deeper look at SouthPark until next week when I have some real basis to base an opion on, but it will still be difficult given the unpredictability of their opponents on this map.
Prediction: ONESIX.CSS [14-16] SouthPark Player to Watch: Kemistry SRCtv link Place a bet

pub-AftershocK vs Catch-23 |

Did pub-AftershocK pull off an upset last week with their summary dismissal of their previously unbeaten French opposition? All I can say for sure is that extenSia! left the server a great dealless happy then they joined it having just been served their own ass on a plate. I did last week that pub are eminently able to "break the legs" of anyone who doesn't take them seriously and this could well have been the case here.
One of the teams that were unable to take part last week due to a lack of opponent Catch-23 should have played against fellow country men cubesports who have now been replaced with SouthPark due to their inability to fill their roster. Will the Italians fare better in their attempt to overcome pub than the French before them? I don't know. What they should have in place of course will be a healthy respect for their adversaries talents, if they don't then lets just hope for their sake that they have some personal injury insurance. Prediction: pub-AftershocK [16-12] Catch-23 Player to Watch: pub^severance SRCtv link Place a bet |
Gaming-Transcendents vs Zboard Team |

This game kind of sneaked up on me and it wasonly when I came to write up that i realised what a a game we had in prospect. Gaming-Transcendents turned over xciteuk on cpl_mill in the season opener and will see tonight's opponents as being a real rival for promotion and indeed playoff success. The clan "blurb" paints them as "online superheroes" - that is exactly what they will need to be this evening as ther eis no doubt they are taking on one of the best teams in the championship tier. A lot will hang on a repeat performance from Immi who needs to inspire his team the same way his counterpart ben0 does. It could well come down to which of these two players has the better game.
A seven round victory over ONESIX.CSS was just the start Zboard Team would have wanted for their season. With hree points safely stowed away below decks the focus is now on securing the next three. this isn't going to be an easy task by any stretch of the imagination but the squad will not be looking at any other outcome. Last time out ben0 inspired the win with a monster performance which cut though the opposition round after round, assuming he can spur his team onto similar levels then it's hard to see past a Z-win situation. As stated above the tie is balanced delicately on the form of the two team leaders making this a hard one to call.

xciteuk vs extenSia! |

xciteuk fell prey to the surprisingly well oiled machine of Gaming-Transcendents last time out (again on cpl_mill)though I can say for sure that with comments from some of their players suggesting they didn't know they had a match until a few hours before kickoff, that any preparation they may have had would have brief to say the least. If this was manifest in the outcome is hard to say but it can't have helped. With full prep for this tie I can see them taking a win here based on both the teams previous results xcite.uk do seem to be in a better position to push on.
extenSia! heads are down right now and they need a quick fix to turn things around. They sure weren't happy at last weeks defeat to pub-AftershocK (who is ever happy with a defeat?) and need to put in a good display tonight to paste some points on the scoreboard as much as to raise their spirits for the season. Maybe mill just isn't one of their better maps, maybe contra IS. Either way a tight nervy game could be in order here as both teams feel their way into the game and try and avoid the desparation that is pld 2 pts 0. Prediction: xcite.uk [16-12] extensia!
