Things were not looking good for Epsilon when they suffered a harsh defeat to mTw yesterday, however the Fragmasters Sapphire side have been in the headlines for unexpectedly taking down Rasta.Xd in the lower bracket.
Some insisted it was a fluke, that Rasta had played a bad game on a map that they may not have been quite up to scratch on, however the Fragmasters team have yet again proved their worth by taking down yet another big name, this time, it was seed 2, Epsilon eSports. Not only that, but they absolutely destroyed them.
The game was played out on de_train, a map that can cause notorious crumbles from even the best of teams, aside from VeryGames of course, however the Portuguese team have spent the best part of the last week practicing their strats to make sure that they are polished and ready for execution. Epsilon however haven't been able to do so due to some work commitments from their players, something that has proved to have cost them dearly.
With the game in full flow, it was obvious that Epsilon were not quite with it as they began to show signs of weakness with numerous faults appearing in their play. Sapphire were demonstrating the same crisp form that they have been doing throughout the tournament, keeping cool, calm and collected taking each round in their stride. Epsilon grew uncomfortable, it was clear that they knew something was going wrong, but unfortunately for them, they could not rectify the issues in time.
Going in to the second half of the game the Portuguese were still putting in their all and swiftly began to close the came down, with Mario “Fyx” Rodrigues displaying some fantastic performances taking crucial rounds from the British side. In the end, they triumphed with a 16-7 victory, meaning they will go on to face team BEASTS who took down LiNK Gaming with the same scoreline.
Whether the loss comes down to lack of preparation, or even down to their lack of cohesion with stand-in Luke “KritikaL” Green remains to be known, but Epsilon now have time to have a good long think about it on the ride home.
