i43: SC2 Final Standings
@ i43 channel

The StarCraft 2 final appeared to attract one of the largest crowds seen at the finals arena over the weekend, aside from the CSS tournament that has just come to a close. They were fully engaged with the action, with commentary from TotalBiscuit and dApollo keeping them deeply involved.

The first player in the final was one of the Swedes from Team Dignitas, Tim "merz" Olsson, who made his way there all the way from the upper bracket without dropping a series, thus giving him a two map lead in the extended best of seven series.

His opponent was to be Vaidas "Fargo" Radavicius from Lithuania, and he proved to be a crowd favourite, as the underdogs usually are. It was his fellow finalist that had knocked him down into the lower bracket with a 2-0 lead earlier in the tournament, so Fargo was looking for revenge.

With his 2 map lead, merz looked like a dead cert to win when he took the first map in a convincing fashion, however the Lithuanian managed to stage a comeback and successfully took the three maps that followed, including an hour long game resulting in a Thor, Battlecruiser combination.

StarCraft 2 Final Standings:

Tim "merz" Olsson - £1,750
Vaidas "Fargo" Radavicius - £700
Maurizio "StarEagle" Carioti - £420
4th: Samayan "BlinG" Kay - £210
5-8th: James "Jimmeh" Washbrook - £105
5-8th: Nathan "Lau" Lau - £105
5-8th: Lasse "Deranging" Schmieding - £105
5-8th: Andrew "rANDY" Whittle - £105
