A little under two months since the first competitive ladder featuring a game on the popular Nintendo Wii Console was created, ClanBase follows suit

On the 21st of May 2007, ConsoleGaming.eu announced the first Competitive Ladder for the Wii console, playing the game Super Mario Strikers Charged, a GameCube football game re-made for the new Wii console.

Despite that ladder only having a limited amount of success, with 11 players signed up, and a total of 31 games played to date, ClanBase have now announced they too will be hosting a ladder for the very same game, on the Wii

When the ConsoleGaming.eu Super Mario Strikers Charged ladder was launched back in May, Marco Spoor, General Manager of Consolegaming.eu made this statement:

The market is currently dominated by the more conventional competitive ladders such as Rainbow Six: Vegas or Socom, by launching a ladder for Super Mario Strikers we are hoping that we can draw in the casual gamer, and those that want a break from your standard online game and reunite them on the virtual football field. This will bring us closer to achieving our aim of becoming a central hub for which all European gamers can converse and compete in a ladder environment.

Yesterday, evildonkey of ClanBase had this to say:

We had to wait a long while but it's finally here, the first Nintendo Wii ladder has been opened for business, and for none other than Mario Strikers: Charged Football.

While he may be wrong about it being the first ladder for a Nintendo Wii game (or even for this particular game), it will certainly be interesting to see if ClanBase can have more success at this than ConsoleGaming.eu had, having already had 8 signups since the announcement was made

In this new ClanBase ladder, each fixture should last hardly longer than 20 minutes, featuring best of 3 matches, each 3 minutes long, for each of 2 different stadiums
