With the first European CGS qualifiers well into action, it's time to recap on some of the matches played so far, and look at the matches coming up.
The first few rounds had few upsets, noteable results being:
Round 1 (de_nuke)

Multigamer
10-9

Wizards
The first round was honestly a mess, with only 4 out of the 24 fixtures actually being played, the other 20 being default wins.
Round 2 (de_dust2)
This round was slighty better for attendance, with 5 out of the 12 fixtures needing a result.
Round 3 (de_train)

Team Riot
10-9

Old Boys Incorporated
Finally down to the teams that actually wanted to be in the event,

Adastra and

Fnatic had no problems with their opposition,

Multigamer strugging a bit more with a 10-7 win over
Team Hitbox E-sports.
At this point in the competition we only had 4 teams left:
Adastra
The Swedish powerhouse, one of the first teams to announce their full focus on CGS. Their roster is a combination of the top 2 Swedish teams, Check-Six and dignitas, who both recently finished 2nd and 3rd at
Lan79 respectively. One of the favorites to win.

Fnatic
Another strong favorite, huge performances at lan recently. With a 1st place win at
Lan79 and second place at
I30. Good strong performances online in the eurocup. Issues with a starting player,
proph being under 18, and therefore not eligible to sign the final contracts, have not cropped up so far, although they are yet to name the replacement in the case they do get drafted.

Blaze

Proph

Darky

AirRaid

Xertion
Multigamer
The top Norwiegan team, having had a very strong Eurocup so far, still in the upper bracket, tipped as the dark horse to win this qualifier.

Drozo

snipealot

Chobo

Gem

Zeek

Infected
Team-Riot
Quite a new team, but the roster is not lacking experience. Former with members from the old and new mTw, and one n!faculty player. With experience ranging from CPL 2005 to winning i30, you can't call these guys a pushover.

Round 1 Upper Bracket (de_train)

Adastra
10-7

Multigamer

Fnatic
10-7

Team Riot
Results as expected in my opinion, however 10-7 is quite a close score, and with the tight format of cgs, 2 key rounds could have turned a defeat into a victory. This leaves the winners fighting it out for a place in the
CGS Qualifiers final, and a guaranteed spot in the European Combine.
Round 2 Upper Bracket Finals (de_inferno)

Fnatic-

Adastra
Set to be a very tight and exciting match, 2 of the best of Europe battling, expected to meet up in the final regardless, this meetup could decide who has to win 1 map, and who has to win 2. Fnatic won the de_inferno battle at lan79 vs x6, but with different rosters and rule format this match is wide open. I caught up with
fifflaren and
darky on their match thoughts:
fifflaren
Well we didnt really prep that much for this game because i have been having some serious computer issues, thats why our game was delayed vs MG, had to borrow a friends pc and that basically left us with 0 prep time, before this game on inferno but i think that we will do okay, fnatic is a great team and i enjoy playing them. i think it's gonna be a really good game let's just hope majk haunted and I get alittle revenge this time since they won on inferno at LAN79 ;)
darky
Since Lan79 we've been quite inactive, about 2 weeks ago we started our fulltime pracc for CGS. After a few CGS games, some us got the hang of it and decided to go for it 100% and here we are, at Blaze's place right now having a beer. Tomorrow we'll have a full run through on de_inferno to be prepared for our game vs adastra, it should be an insane game. As far as I know it's one of the favorite maps of adastra (or maybe just x6) and not our worst map either
Round 1 Lower Bracket (de_train)

Multigamer
10-6

Team Riot
A strong result by the norwiegan team, awaiting on the loser from Fnatic, Adastra game. If I was Multigamer I would hope I got Adastra, as de_train seems to be Fnatic's strongest map.
Good luck to all the teams.
