CGS: Teams opinions
@ The CGS channel

I catch up with the best of Europe on their CGS opinions, views and ideas about the upcoming CGS, set to change the face of e-sports

Hello fifflaren, can you introduce yourself, and your team to the readers?

Hey, ofcourse! my name is Robin Johansson im 19 years old from Grums, Sweden. im currently playing in team adastra along with my 4 other fellow swedes. Jonas "nordQvist" Nordqvist, David "olander" Olander. Joakim "majk" Kroon. Ted "hauNted" Svensson.

Whats your opinion on the CGS ruleset, how has your team adjusted to the faster playing style?

I think it's really fun to play, it's fast and you get to do some new stuff, i kinda miss the pistolrounds though but yea.. we adjusted pretty well sofar, still some to improve but it will come.

What are you thoughts on the sudden death rules(best of 1 round), do you feel on certain maps this leaves the T/CT side at an obvious disadvantage.

Eh yea i dont like that sudden death rule, i think it should have been atleast 1round per side, imagine playing cbble and u end up playing T side on SD, ur pretty much owned, i dont like that particular rule, it's a game ruiner.

Are you still playing mr15 rules? Which ruleset to you prefer?

No, we are only playing with CGS rules right now, i prefer CGS rules because it's faster and more fun, but i still miss some of the old rules, like a match takes longer and it's more intense, and yea the pistol rounds :)

Have you had any issues with players being under 18?

Erm, yea we had some issues with people under 18, that's basically why we reformed adastra with players from dignitas and from check-six, tyron and ferus are underage and we didnt want to take in a 1.6 player that wont learn the game intime, so we just reformed and made the best of it basically

Whats your opinion on the drafting system, where it's not always the best team gets drafted?

Well, i dont really know yet. but sofar i dont like it at all, since u can basically go to the combine with a huge organisation name and get picked coz people know who that big organisation is, and the managers want to be successfull in the manager part, i dont know.. just have to wait and see, but i do think that having a big organisation name over you helos you alot in the combine coz of that particular thing.

What more do you think CGS could do, what do you think they've gotten right

I think CGS has done an amazing job sofar, im not gonna complain about it either untill maybe after we get drafted and i get to experience the whole CGS thing, after that i might give you a better comment :)

Thank you for your time, any shoutouts?

A big shoutout to Gurhan who now has 2 little boys!, and also a big kiss to my princess Anita ^_^, and a good luck to everyone that's trying to get into the CGS!

Hello angeldust, can you introduce yourself, and your team to the readers?

Heya, I'm Juha "aNGeldust" Kurppa from Southern finland, at the moment, Im working for WSPGROUP.fi, and playing CSS on my sparetime. My team, known as Insignia Cadre CSS Squad, consists of 5 players, me included. Im one of the main awp'ers in our team, but basically I'm quite good all arounding player. gRiLLi is the tactician, he leads us in-game, and plays mainly awp. Eversor is the captain of the team, leading us out-game, and being the pictureboy with his mona lisa -smile. God and Countless are both our new additions to Cadre, after me, gRiLLi and Eversor decided to build a new team, they were the 2 guys we went to. I've known them in real life for 13 years, and now as we all hail from the same little village in southern Finland - it was the time to get the band back together. They're both impressive rifle-players, but also being able to pick an awp once in a while, I'd expect them to do massive damage in our new adventures.

Whats your opinion on the CGS ruleset, how has your team adjusted to the faster playing style?

Personally, I think the CGS ruleset is massive innovation for the CSS gameplay. I've always felt the urge to play aggressive, in both 1.6 and CSS. In 1.6, after CO rules went out of the picture, the gameplay started to really slow down, in CSS, the gameplay started where 1.6 left, and it was really, really slow at some points. This renewal of the ruleset, brings back the old good times, with great pace, and the ability to pick up pretty much every time the gun you want to play with. So far, as we've been together for what, two - three weeks, we have mainly played with the new ruleset, and it seriously fits our gaming style like a glove - I couldn't ask for better. Of course we still have to check out the same things in the normal ruleset, but at the moment, we are 120% focused to qualifying for CGS European combine.

What are you thoughts on the sudden death rules(best of 1 round), do you feel on certain maps this leaves the T/CT side at an obvious disadvantage.

The sudden death rules are strict, of course - its like in ice hockey when it goes to too much of overtimes - but, in Ice hockey, the difference is that there's no disadvantage on the another team, because of Ice layouts. What I'm meaning, is that, in some of the maps, e.g de_cbble, it's of course tough for terrorists to come out on top of the Sudden death OT, BUT, on the other hand, the new pace in the game can make a difference, as CT's have to predict more; they might end up doing a mistake. I can remember plenty of incidents, when a normal mr15 game has gone into ridiculously many overtimes, and well, try to squeeze that to TV, and you find yourself doing something pointless. The rules are always better than a cointoss. It's tough - but it's hollywood.

Are you still playing mr15 rules? Which ruleset to you prefer?

As I stated above, we have played a couple of pcws with the new line on the normal (mr15) ruleset, but we mainly focuse on adjusting and utilizing, finding new things to do on the CGS ruleset. It's like a whole different game again. I love the new CGS ruleset, as it provides the faster gameplay. It's more of a game of gamesense, reflexes and predictions now. Of course, I can see the point of some teams not liking them, and wont propably never adjust to them, because of their old playing style, but still, I'd encourage everyone to give it a go, it really makes the game more fun to play, and improves you as a team as you have to work faster to achieve the goals.

Have you had any issues with players being under 18?

None, as we were building up the team specifically for CGS, we wanted players, who act mature, and are a bit older and experienced. So from the beginning, we made our choices to fit the rules that CGS had set for teams, so there were no problems at all.

Whats your opinion on the drafting system, where it's not always the best team gets drafted?

I feel that the drafting system is the most professional thing that the esports has ever met, it points out the aspects that are valid in all the other sports; marks the potentials in marketability, credibility and performance, it makes players more humble, and easily respectable as they're able to perform in all kind of hard situations, whether on air or not. Personally I think its a good thing, and I hope it will affect a lot of people, and they will take the hint; start acting more professionally and preferrebly make the eSport scene a lot better place to be in.

What more do you think CGS could do, what do you think they've gotten right

CGS has already been a huge success, at least among gamers. The next step at the moment is, to make eSports familiar to everyone. I think CGS makes eSports a lot easier to catch and watch for normal people, and in no time, I hope we will find them watching eSports, cheering for their local CGS franchise, and buying the merchandises and what not, for all to the support of eSports, the thing we have all been from the day one.

Thank you for your time.

Hello XERTION and blaze, can you introduce yourself, and your team to the readers?

Hi my name is Milan 'xertion' Veeger. I'm from the Netherlands and I'm 20 years old. I play for fnatic together with blaze, proph, airraid and darky.

Whats your opinion on the CGS ruleset, how has your team adjusted to the faster playing style?

I think CGS made a good decision about the way they made the rules. It's much more enjoyable to watch because there is less roundtime and less rounds to play, also the startmoney starting at $16000 means instant action at the start of the game. At start, the roundtime was the most difficult part to get used to. We didn't have much trouble starting with $16000 the first round. But after a couple of intensive training days we got used to it

What are you thoughts on the sudden death rules(best of 1 round), do you feel on certain maps this leaves the T/CT side at an obvious disadvantage.

Offcourse the sudden death rules is a bit easyer depending on what side you are. But none the less, I think I understand why CGS made this rule because the game will be more intense for the viewers because in this round it's all or nothing.

Are you still playing mr15 rules? Which ruleset to you prefer?

Lately we are playing with the CGS rules the whole time because currently this is the most important thing we have going on right now. We really want to give 100 percent to get a contract with CGS. Though if we have a eurocup match we play 2 or maybe 3 wars with normal settings before the match.

Have you had any issues with players being under 18?

Of course we are very dissapointed that our teammate Sandor 'proph' de Munck can't participate in the upcomming CGS season. I think there is no explanation necessary why CGS prefered the age limit. I think they chose the age limit because every player will be contracted as a full time gamer and e a lot of players under 18 still have the obligation to go to school this won't work.

Whats your opinion on the drafting system, where it's not always the best team gets drafted?

I think the drafting system is really good because it's very neutral. They want to give every team a chance in making it into CGS and I think that's quite positive.

What more do you think CGS could do, what do you think they've gotten right

I don't think CGS needs to adjust their ruleset or anything. I think it's good the way it is now. Though I hope there will be more teams competing in the next season so the competition will be more exciting.

Thank you for your time, any shoutouts?

We just want to give a big shoutout to our good old friend and teammate Frank 'Vivid' Leenaars. I'm sure he can hear us up there :). We miss him a whole lot. I'm sure he is with us, every match we play. Everyone join #always-vivid on irc!

Hello url, can you introduce yourself, and your team to the readers?

Hi, my name's Tom 'url' Chenery, I'm 18 and am from Lincolnshire! I play for 4Kings.css along with Henry 'HenryG' Greer, Jonathan 'jon0o' Finglass, Lewis 'Hughsy' Hughes and Richard 'ritch' Gibbs

Whats your opinion on the CGS ruleset, how has your team adjusted to the faster playing style?

I feel that the CGS ruleset has changed our team for the better, we used to be quite unlucky on pistol rounds, which could sometimes lose us games, but now we dont have to worry about that so are stronger on a whole. However the CGS rules also allow for more random results, because of the short amount of time that each game takes.

What are you thoughts on the sudden death rules(best of 1 round), do you feel on certain maps this leaves the T/CT side at an obvious disadvantage.

I don't really like the sudden death rules, but i definitely feel that it is good for television purposes, of course on nuke and other maps the ct side has a huge advantage, but however it balances out by you having to start on the harder, terrorist side, to get the ct side in overtime!

Are you still playing mr15 rules? Which ruleset to you prefer?

We only play CGS rules now, since there's no point in playing mr15 anymore. I'd have to say i prefer the cgs rules, it makes the game more fast paced and tense.

Have you had any issues with players being under 18?

Nope, we havent had any issues, all of our players will be 18 or over at the time of the lan finals.

Whats your opinion on the drafting system, where it's not always the best team gets drafted?

Hmm, I guess I can't really complain about the drafting system, although I'd prefer for the winning teams to be drafted, you have to agree that the managers can pick who they feel are the most professional, for the cameras, as well as being very skilled... We will be focusing on all of these factors for the next two months! :-)

What more do you think CGS could do, what do you think they've gotten right

The CGS has overwhelmed me so far, so I'm not gonna ask for anything else! I do however hope that they treat region 3 with as much respect as they did region 1 (the draft show was great).

Hello Hartigan, can you introduce yourself, and your team to the readers?

Hello there, names Mike I am Auxilia's current 6th before that I played for CSA/4Kings, my fellow Auxilian's are Stannly, Arak, Limpz, Gandofini and Beta who are each alright at the game

Whats your opinion on the CGS ruleset, how has your team adjusted to the faster playing style?

Obviously getting used to the pace of matches has changed but most of us have been through it before from the 3 minute to 1.45 round time transition, I think it encourages teams to play much more aggressivly

What are you thoughts on the sudden death rules(best of 1 round), do you feel on certain maps this leaves the T/CT side at an obvious disadvantage.

That is stupid, I think the person who thought of that mustve played a 1v1 game or something, or perhaps nothing at all? some maps are definatley harder for a particuler side, making this rule unfair

Are you still playing mr15 rules? Which ruleset to you prefer?

I shoot the virtual people on my screen, it doesn't matter which ruleset! the old ruleset I prefere because its more open to tactics, but for fun as in mixes and what not I'd prefere the new rules because its faster paced and I wont have to worry about eco rounds as often.

Have you had any issues with players being under 18?

Personally I haven't, but r3 was built for CGS so obviously age was a big issue.

Whats your opinion on the drafting system, where it's not always the best team gets drafted?

Again CGS crap, they have no idea about anything

What more do you think CGS could do, what do you think they've gotten right

They have the money right, everything else is rubbish.

Thank you for your time, any shoutouts?

Big <3 to everyone who was part of CSA, your all legends except HaGGiS, Auxilia, Darth Vader, HVPC, Prize-Play, Spick Mich, Primative State, pro-play.de, 1moregame

Hello kev1n, can you introduce yourself, and your team to the readers?

My name is Kevin, i'm 16 year old, from Copenhagen, Denmark. My team, called Roskilde-eSport, consists of jIMMy, FeTiSh, 3k2, haahr and of course, myself. We have been around for quite some time now, doing some great results at lan.

Whats your opinion on the CGS ruleset, how has your team adjusted to the faster playing style?

To be honest, I don't understand why the rules have been made like that. The old 1.45 roundtime was perfect, and now missing the gunround, wich was in my opinion one of the most important rounds in a game, is to me very strange. We haven't really discussed CGS yet, but as far as i've heard, me jIMMy and 3k2 can still attend, but not get any part of contract, since we're all under 18.

What are you thoughts on the sudden death rules(best of 1 round), do you feel on certain maps this leaves the T/CT side at an obvious disadvantage.

stupid, pitty, strange, dumb, idiotic and very hatefull :

Are you still playing mr15 rules? Which ruleset to you prefer?

I like playing with CGS rules in mixes, cause of the 16k startmoney, and you have to play fast, so these stupid campers can't sit in some corner all day. But i hate it, when it comes to officials, since the gunround had such an important status in how the game would be. So I prefer the good old 1.45 roundtime, and 800 startmoney.

Have you had any issues with players being under 18?

Since we're 3 players under 18, we haven't yet decided if we're going to attend it. If we could the through in the long run, it would mean that only 2 of us could get a contract, and that would be pretty fucked up. So yes, issues are not in short supply.

What more do you think CGS could do, what do you think they've gotten right

For a start, they could change the whole ruleset back to the old 1.45 roundtime 800 startmoney, and they could lower the age. The only thing i believe they've done right, is putting that much money into it. Everything else is imminent.

Thank you for your time.

Hello tom, can you introduce yourself, and your team to the readers?

Hi, i'm Tom Horth, member of team polarity, just recently formed for the CGS qualifiers. Our lineup is Gav, ins, Mangiacapra and RossaR.

Whats your opinion on the CGS ruleset, how has your team adjusted to the faster playing style?

The CGS ruleset is pretty cool in my opinion. We've had a few incidents of running out of time in a round although we're ironing these out i think. Overall though I like these faster paced games and I totally understand and support their use in the CGS.

What are you thoughts on the sudden death rules(best of 1 round), do you feel on certain maps this leaves the T/CT side at an obvious disadvantage.

The sudden death rules are a bit harsh, but I think getting to pick what side to go first is a decent trade off, especially considering few matches end in draws anyway.

Are you still playing mr15 rules? Which ruleset to you prefer?

We haven't played mr15 rules at all really, apart from a few games in mixes and with Ebuyer. We are trying to get as used to this rule set as is humanly possible and give ourself every chance of storming this weekends coming qualifiers. We will be attending Starbytes as Polarity however, and I hear that the second day of this tournament will be mr15.

Have you had any issues with players being under 18?

We haven't had any issues with underage players, we were worried about issues with our Ebuyer contract, but Ebuyer have agreed to terminate our contracts if we are drafted (although we will be returning all of our gear :P) and have generally been very understanding about the situation.

Whats your opinion on the drafting system, where it's not always the best team gets drafted?

The drafting system is a bit shoddy in some respects, but I believe the UK GMs will have a bit more integrity and common sense with regards to who they pick. All we can do is play well, play nice and hope someone thinks we have what it takes. There are some good guys and some good teams in the UK and we will try out hardest to impress.

What more do you think CGS could do, what do you think they've gotten right

For a first season, I think CGS have done a wonderful job and I look forward to playing in the qualifiers next week. Without playing in any CGS run events as yet, I am unable to comment further, but overall it looks like a professionally run and incrediny exciting league.

Thank you for your time.
