Today is a huge day for European Counter-Strike Source, one which I am sure will be remembered for a long time to come!
Less than a month after the old Insignia Cadre CSS team folded, I am enormously proud to present to you the new Insignia Cadre.css Line-up!
So without furthur ado, I give you:
On behalf of the Insignia Cadre Organisation, and the Cadred.org Community, I welcome them all, its great to see such a strong line-up once more, here at Cadre.
I spoke to these 5 players about their gaming history, and their journeys to becoming this great IC team
Good Evening Juha, could you give us a quick introduction to yourself?
Lo, I'm Juha "Eversor" Tolonen, a twenty-two year old guy from Helsinki. I’ve been playing CS since beta 3.0, and Source since it came out. My gaming history includes MMO's and classic 2D adventure games from studios like Sierra, LucasArts etc.
Why did you take a break from gaming recently?
I left because I didn't find enough time to play as much as I wanted, and as much as was needed from me. This was because I was studying for university exams, and I had a girlfriend to be with. I still have the girlfriend, but the exams are now over, yay! (Probably didn't even make it in XD)
How do you feel about returning once more to the Insignia Cadre Organisation?
It feels great to come back to Cadre, the team and the organization that we built up from scratch. I have many friends and fans here, so hopefully we can give them a treat again :)
I first came back to Source because Susi asked me to join his new line-up, and I thought 'yea, what the hell, studies are closing in and I'm itching to compete again'.
Cadre had a full line-up at that point, and I didn't want to break their game by jumping back in – plus, Susi offered something new to try, so I said yes. Meanwhile Cadre.css fell apart, and tek9 welcomed us in unofficially. After that I had to have a talk with the managers of Cadre, since my contract with them was still valid. Plans of making a new Cadre CSS team opened to me at the same time, and wheels started rolling more towards Cadre for me, until I received an offer I couldn't resist.
What exactly is your role within this new squad?
I'm the out-of-game leader of the team. In-game I do all kinds of things, AWPs, rifles, you name it – I’m a bit of a Jack of all trades. Hugging, cuddling and scratching balls (strictly mine!) also fits me well :D
Any finishing comments to the Cadred Community?
Yea, I'd like to thank all the people who wrote heart-warming, sweet and respectful comments on my retirement article; I didn't have the time to thank you guys before so here it is. Better late than never, eh?
Also a surprise shout-out to the Hungarian community as a whole, not just the known players, all of you guys are my favourites! Hope to see/hear more from you!
Hi Juha, could you tell me a little about yourself, and your gaming career?
I'm Juha "aNGeLdusT " Kurppa, 20 year old student, from the west coast of Finland! I have been playing counter-strike since '99, I started CS:S in 2005, and played both ever since. I have been playing Source in team such as firstcore, eL niÑo, astralis and, most of all, Insignia Cadre.
What happened to make you leave the old Insignia Cadre.css line-up?
I felt the complete lack of motivation for a month or two, so I decided to step down. Unfortunately, it made the whole team go down. After a while of downtime, I started playing a bit, and got into talks with Eversor and gRiLLi; they wanted to bring an all ex-1.6 line-up back, and I was fully into it.
So what led to you coming back to Insignia Cadre?
For me, it’s like returning back to home. It’s a great organisation that I have been a part of for over a year, and I couldn't be happier to be back in it. I completely trust my new team, and I sure do hope that we can rock our way into CGS. The reason for us becoming the new cadre.css is probably down to the two-way trust we have with the management, they're just great people, and I hope we can fully satisfy their competitive needs.
Do you have any specific in-game role within the team, or a particular playing style?
I'm usually the lonely desperado in the game: my style is pretty random, and hard to predict, which suits the needs of my position in game. I play mostly with an AWP, but I do my best to make a difference with it, not just sitting around shooting ducks.
On behalf of Insignia Cadre I welcome you back home!
Hi Tuomo, could you introduce yourself for us?
I'm Tuomo "gRiLLi" Koriseva, I am 19 years old, and from a big city called Korpilahti, in Finland. I've played CS since beta 7.2. My first six years in CS was spent in teams like kopla and Ewoks, and after I got bored playing that game I turned to play CS:S about two years ago. Former teams in Source are FC, astralis and of course IC.
What lead to you leaving the IC.css team last time?
The last team quit playing because of team spirit, and some trouble with various players’ motivation/time problems.
How do you feel about returning to Insignia Cadre?
It's great to be back in Cadre. Me and aNgeldust wanted to make a team that includes good team spirit, good old players, sick aimers and that has a good understanding of gaming. After a month of thinking, and trialing players, we’ve finally got a team which includes all those things I said.
Do you have any specific in-game role?
My role in this team is doing in-game leader stuff and getting a lot of frags, with all of the weapons. =)
Welcome back to IC :)
Hi Samuel, can you quickly introduce yourself for me, with a little of your gaming history?
Hello! I am Samuel "God " Räsänen, a 19 year old student from Helsinki, Finland. I started online gaming together with my good friend aNgeldust somewhere around 1997, playing a game called Jedi Knight: Dark Forces 2. After playing it for a few years I moved to Counter-Strike, shortly after the modification came out. I got interested in Source some months after it was released, but only focused on it for a while before returning to 1.6. Since then I've been randomly playing both 1.6 and Source, with the occasional HLDM, DoD1.3, DotA & Q4 game mixed in among them.
What caused you to leave your team and end up available to become part of the new Insignia Cadre.css team?
There was no hope for snägäri after we ran into some serious trouble with our team play and communication when people started to lose their motivation. It lead to zoom leaving the team, and shortly after that we decided to call it a day, as finding new members didn't go as smoothly as planned. I had fun while it lasted, and hopefully no hearts were broken.
So how did you get from there, to joining Insignia Cadre?
I guess I was picked for the team mainly because I was available at the right time. The Finnish Source scene doesn't have too many skilled clanless players around these days - they knew I could do my job, and also had the needed qualities to fit in well with the rest of the team.
So they liked you, how do you feel about playing with this line-up?
I feel really great being part of the team. I’m highly satisfied with the line-up we have, and am looking forward to sharing worthwhile experiences with the team, and with the organization. I've known aNgeldust and countless for approximately 13 years now, and I really love having them in the same line-up with me. I've also played with Eversor and gRiLLi in the past, so they too are no strangers to me. All in all, I believe that we will be able to make a real impact!
Do you have any specific in-game role?
Mainly I am a rifler, but I’m pretty handy with anything; I’m just the guy who takes the job he is given, and who does it well.
I wish you and your team-mates the best of luck for the future, I’m sure you will enjoy your time at Cadre! Is there anything else you would like to say?
I'd like to thank my team, and the Insignia Cadre organisation for giving me this opportunity to join them. Also, shout-outs go to everyone who have supported me in Source. See you on the battlefield!
Hi Markus, could you introduce yourself for me?
Hello, I'm Markus Saronsalo, and I play Counter-Strike: Source under the nickname "countless". I've been playing Counter-Strike for over 4 years, and Source for about 2.5 years. I'm also playing lots of other games, mostly First Person Shooters, but just for fun. My current game is now Source, and I'm concentrating on it 100%.
So what made you leave your last team?
Two players left our team, and we didn't find any replacements, so myself and God and decided to fold it.
How do you feel about joining the IC Organisation?
I'm very honoured at getting the opportunity to play under cadre's tag, with a very talented and experienced line-up. It was about two weeks ago when aNgeldust and Eversor asked me if I would be interested in playing for the new cadre line-up. I couldn't resist such an offer. I was going to enter military service this summer but I decided to postpone it for this.
What is your in-game role?
I am one of the main riflers in this team along with God, and our job is to spray opponents out of the screen =)
