Hi fnatic|proph, congratulations on your lan79 win, how much preparation did you do for the event?
The last couple of weeks before the event we just used our normal playing schedule and tried to do a bit of extra for the event, which went ok even though some of us had personal stuff to focus on as well.
How did you find the event management, was it well run?
It was pretty good, all though there were some bumps in the road, for example the language barrier was hard to overcome sometimes, it was a guessing game basically. And the delays were pretty exhausting cause we didn’t get any sleep. But for the rest everything was nicely prepared and arranged.
How did you deal with the lack of sleep at the event, did it affect your playing?
Well it probably did, but not as much as you might think. When we start playing again we can get our adrenaline flowing easily and still play well, even though it was pretty hard sometimes.
You didn't drop a map the entire LAN against the top teams in Europe, what was your hardest game to win, and what pulled you through it?
Our hardest game was probably against Reason, we had a crappy T side on d2 that day, and we weren’t really warmed up that much., what pulled is through it was our great motivation, after i30 we really started paying attention to the smaller mistakes in our game for example our motivation when we start losing rounds. We are a lot better now at staying positive even if we're behind.
And also the fact that we are very experienced I think, we have attended the most international LANs of all the top teams in Europe as far as I know.
Can you explain why versus ESX on de_nuke you played the second half with 4 players, leading you to go into overtime, before your fifth returned and win?
Yeah, we were playing a PCW before on the normal steam servers instead of with the normal Lan79 Source client, and AirRaid forgot to switch to the proper steam client so he was disqualified for second half, it was one of our most nerve wrecking games
We were down 15-13 with 4on5 which is pretty hard to overcome, but i think our experience came in handy again to get the last couple of rounds which led us to the overtime to take a pretty easy win there.
How has the backing of theFnatic organization helped you with this event, is everything running smoothly?
Yeah we didn’t really had to worry about anything, we could just focus on our practise for the event and do our bests!
What are you doing with the prizes, will you use the dual core?
I know xertion will, the rest of us all have E6600 processors so we might sell them or something. Ill be using the case for sure and maybe some of the other hardware stuff, for the prize money I don’t know. Sit on it for a while figure out a nice way to spend it. So everyone be nice to me I might share it with you!
Who did you enjoy meeting at the LAN?
I enjoyed meeting everyone again basically, people I like will know that I enjoyed it themselves, don’t want anyone to feel left out if I don’t name them here! But I like everyone really.
What are your thoughts on CGS, have you already started preparing for it?
Not specifically, we don’t know any details about what’s going to happen with CGS, but we practise for every future event in general so that also concludes possibly CGS.
You had over 1500 spectators for your final match, the biggest a source game has ever seen; did this add any pressure on you?
It was very nice to see so many people were watching source TV, felt great to have so many people interested in us. As for the pressure, it didn’t add any extra pressure, I was even less nervous then I was for my previous games. We felt pretty confident we could win this thing so we just gave it our all, + we perform best under pressure!
Who do you see as the top 3 European teams currently (excluding yourself)?
In random order, Dignitas x6 and h2k
Thanks a lot for the interview, once again congratulations on your win, I really enjoyed meeting you guys again, any shoutouts?
Shoutouts to everyone at lan79, I enjoyed meeting you all again. And to everyone who watched our game it felt really nice to have support like that. And tofnatic for getting us to the event, worked out nicely!
