Lan79: Off to west-coast! ***UPDATE + PICS!!***
@ Lan79 2007 channel

friday 11am As I write this, I've been awake for couple of hours, it's 11am, and I'm supposed to be in the Helsinki city in 25 minutes (not going to happen).

I started my day by packing everything up, merely, shuttle + clothes. Went to shower and ate some breakfast, and now I've been waiting Jonssen to arrive from Turku, to my place. He just called, and said that he'll be here in 5 minutes, and after that we're going to pick up gRiLLi from the central railwaystation in Helsinki, and head up to lunch and meet up late and albbis at the Helsinki-Vantaa airport. Our flight should depart at 1435 hours, and with a little stop in Amsterdam, we should be in Paris by six o'clock.

Now Jonssen came, and is killing his lungs outside, and I should get going. I'll update this blog as I next time get to a computer, so SEE YA! VIVA LA FRANCE!

wAbbits update

Hehe, our boyz screw it big time, but Super-Teemu to rescue (ie. me). The guys got lost on the way to lan bus, but decided to take a taxi. Smart move, would one think, but NOT in Paris. They got jammed to traffic and taxi driver said that it will take atleast 2 hours. Well, at this point they had about 20 minutes and decided to pull the panic switch.

I recieved emergency call and went to action. I called to sweet swede fifflaren with fifflarens help we managed to convince the bus driver to come to pick them up from closest railway station. Which noone knew at that point. Right, I sent fifflarens cell number to AD, AD then made the taxi driver to call to bus driver and tell where they are going.

And just 5 mins ago I got call from AD that they are now at the bus and on their way to the LAN-place. HOORAY, were saved. From now on, I will let AD do the updating!

aNGeldusT again!

saturday 10am Teemu, first of all you gave me olander's number (we owe you one, David), not fifflarens! We got fucked up on our way from CDG airport in Paris, to the other one (ORLY (YARLY) South), so we decided to take a cab, and thought it will take around 40 mins to get with a taxi to the other airport, welll after 1h of travelling, that didnt seem going to happen. After a bit negotiating with the taxi driver, bus driver and the other taxi driver, we met the bus somewhere in Paris, where it was raining shitloads. But yeah thanks, at least we got into the bus! After 7 hours of the bus trip, and so many twisted backpains and kneeaches, we arrived to Bressuire around 03 o'clock. After wandering around for awhile, we got a ride to the hotel, and got a sweet 2 hours of sleep and came back in here. Now we're spending the morning in here to set up things and Jonssen got our group infos and so on, so here we are and I'm writing this on Goodeh's computer as the rest of the mainhall doesn't have internet!?!?!?

saturday 7:20pm: We have finished playing our group games, won 28-2 and 29-1. We've been waiting for the next games to start, it's been 3 hours already, and its getting a bit boring. I've been hanging around with sYrox from alternate aTTaX, just talking and killing time (and posing to the camera).

Currently there seems to be some server problems, as they can only run 4 servers at once (although all the servers worked fine during the groupstages) and seems that we can't play mill after all, since the CSS-client this lan uses has some issues with it - otherwise its been great playing with the client, it sure is the most professional way to run byocs, and I'm glad that someone has put so much effort into that :).

To be honest, I'm kinda tired, and so are the others in here. With last nights 2 hours of good sleep, everyone seems kinda restless. But off we go! I'll update this blog again after we are done with todays matches, maybe I'll get some pictures up also.

sunday 03:20am: At around 11pm, the staff got the servers working, and the games could continue. We started off by playing SoA, and we won it quite easily with 16-2 score on train.

After the SoA game it was our turn to meet the first 'highskilled' opponent in this tournament, and it happened to be the swedish friends of ours - Dignitas. We started off on inferno, and while we played, everything we tried to do kind of failed (ahh, inferno again, like last weekend at winter assembly). We lost to Dignitas 3-16, and dropped to losers bracket - This meaning most of all more games, which is kinda both good and bad. We get more to play, but we have to play more, so sleeping tonight is kinda questionable at the moment, well, hopefully we can catch at least some z's. After the Dignitas game, we got into a server against dAw in dust2. The game ended in our favour 16-4 or something like that, and getting us closer to the finals in our losers bracket.

I've been just chilling around and trying to get some rest, but it's a mission impossible, since even the lights are on in the main hall. I guess I just go and watch Late kick some serious ass in the qpad 1on1 tour, I think he has made it into top8 or close to that already, and we support him on his journey!

sunday morning a.k.a monsterfail: We stopped playing the losers bracket last morning at almost 6 am, since the tournament was delayed a bit and there was a whole lot of unsure information so we couldnt sleep at evening. So after we stopped the games, we went to the hotel, to get 2 hours of sleep (again), weell well, when you havent slept properly in 2 days, you just cant wake up normally, so it fucked up big time. We overslept at first, (6 guys in 2 hotel rooms, with 3 alarm clocks and everyone was so dead tired that we couldnt hear them ringing) and then we waited for the taxi 45mins so it could take us to the lan arena. All in all, we heard that we got a forfeit loss since we didnt show up - hey, thats fucking great. With 4-5 hours of sleep in 2 days, being up 24 hours straight two times it fucked us up. A lot of other teams were also complaining about the schedules and tbh, they're friggin right. It's just unhealthy to sleep that little and it really shows on some of the teams performances in here - g'z to the guys who could pull it up.

So, after we arrived in here, still deadtired we have just been sitting around again, not knowing what to do, until now. We're starting to play against Reason-gaming in QPAD cup, its a best of three, so at least we get something out of this lan. All in all, this lan has been great otherwise, just a friggin big tired minus to the schedules. It has been great to see the old faces in here again, and some new ones also. Now I'm just rooting for dignitas (or jocke) to take the 1st spot in this tournament.

monday 7:20 pm : First of all, we didnt get to play our QPAD game against Reason, because mr url didnt want to even though I gently took his hand and asked what he'd like. So we just ended up watching the final and allstars 2 movie made by velda. Great shows both, and the crowd was really in the game and was a nice experience. Also the QPAD 1on1 prize ceremony was fun to look at, and holla @ late who made it into top4, also g'z to the winners smidzh and fnatic, and zindé to jockeboy who made it to second place in teh 5on5 tournament =). After the finals got finished, we packed our things and got into the bus at 7:40 pm, with one stop, it was so much faster than at friday, and we could actually relax a bit in there, with just talking some shit with tyron, ritch, goodeh, velda, {{ToM!}} and deadcell.

After we arrived into ORLY (YAH RLY) airport, we started chilling in there with the infprod boys, waiting for taxi to get us to CDG airport at the other side of Paris. After a couple of hours we found a taxi, and we had to do 3 trips to get the whole bunch of ten people there. Man I love French driving style :). After we all were at the CDG, we ran down some escalators for fun, and did a manual check-in to get to the waiting area. At this point we separated from the infprod boyz, and just went to get some rest at the airport floor. I wasnt too fucked up by that time, so I thought it was time to get some diarrhea-cappucino to make my trip perfect. We got into the plane at 8:30, and I instantly fell asleep, and woke up at Amsterdam, Holland. We got off the plane, I had to get the proofs of the diarrhea coffee off my body, and me and albbis found the first sofa in Amsterdam's airport and just fell asleep. After 3 hours of sleeping, we woke up when Jonssen, gRiLLi and late came back from their shopping spree at the airport area and said we would be late from the plane. We ran all the way back to the right terminal and got there in time, just to realise we were on a frigging big queue to the plane that would take us to Helsinki. This plane we got into was so small, that I couldnt take breath without hitting someone in the face, so there was no sleep for me at that trip.

We arrived at Helsinki, Finland, today, and got our baggages and ate something at the airport. Late's brother came to pick him up, and we took Jonssen's car and took gRiLLi and albbis to the trainstation, so they could get to home. Me and Jonssen headed up to my place, as it was on his route to home, and he dropped me off in here 40 mins ago, and at the moment he is driving to home, with about 60 km left of his trip. For me, it took a straight 24 hours to get from Bressuire, France to home, and I'm seriously glad that I can sleep well tonight, although I have to wake up for work tomorrow. As a conclusion about the lan, it was a great experience. Seeing France a bit, and seeing other players irl was as great as always. It was a bit of a shock to me that no-one spoke any English in the whole country, except some of the LAN organisers, and the lan are could be in a bit more closer place to the airports and hotels, but hey, they had them pretty greatly covered. But, a big, big minus about the schedules. I understand that it wasnt intentional since the servers fucked up big time and that had nothing to do with it, but PLEASE, and this goes to all the lan organisers in Europe. Think about the players, not everyone can be awake for 72 hours playing one game. It's just inhuman, and it affects the performance of the teams, and their health. But yeah, this was my point of view about the trip, you can comment on how did you think about it :)

I'm out!
