codQcup April: Playoffs - eSuba wins & interview with deffan
@ General coverage channel

Uusi sivu 1

I had a little chat with one of the main admins hosting CODQCUP deffan and we talked about a bit about the cups future. Click here to read it.

The admins of the CODQCUP have revealed the groups for the April edition of the cup, which is hosted once a month with nice prizes from several sponsors. Just like previous cups, there will be room for 64 clans and for 6 back-up clans so that makes it huge 70 clans in total. All those 64 clans have been put into 16 groups with 4 clans in each, the number one clan from each group will advance to the Double Elimination play-offs while the clans number two and three are playing each other in a Singe Elimination round and the winners join up with the other 16 clans waiting in the DE stage. Also a new map has been taken in, mp_vallente which was used in the recent CPC2 event.

The top three clans will get the following prizes

1st prize

  • 5 Dataparty LAN tickets in June
  • 5 QPAD CT
  • 5 Q|Wristband
  • 5 Q|Lanyard
  • 5 Plantronics Audio 370

Interview with deffan

Please introduce yourself to the readers

For those who don't know my name and such it is Patrik Averin and I'm 28 turning 29 within 1 month. At the moment I'm a university student trying to get my degree in Media- andcommunication but I've kind of tracked in into tourism these days. But will try finish my degree this fall. If I would do a short gaming "career" introduction of myself it would be like this: Delta Force 2, Delta Force Landwarrior, Q3: Urban Terror, Call of Duty and Call of Duty 2.

I've never been a top of the notch player but always seemed to be around the top scene some how, don't ask me how though. But these days I tend to game less and less for each week that goes, so now I'm just spraying some headshots now and then with my COD2 team Check.IT. I've put focus on other things such as Callofduty.se, CODQCUP and other management things online.

The grand final was played yesterday and it ended in favor of eSuba, did that outcome suprise you?

Yeah it actually suprised me alot as Logitech.fi have shown some really great performance during CODQCUP April. Also they won over eSuba in the WB4 on mp_burgundy 13-7 showing me the potential of this team. So it was a suprise seeing Logitech.fi "underperform" during periods in the game. Dawnville was way to intense for my heart and I never thought it would go to overtime after eSuba took that big lead after axis side. Somehow I always thought Logitech.fi would take one map, as they only needed to win one. And when they picked mp_matmata I almost started making the winner graphics. But seemed like eSuba was on fire tonight and that is lovely as now we have three different winners in CODQCUP.

The codQcup series have gained much attention and there have been enough participating teams every month, you have also brought something new into it everytime, so what's going to happen next month?

Yes we have been lucky that many teams have found our tournaments something that they take seriously and thereby signing up. Each tournament have had it's share of top teams. We see some teams playing in every tournament and some not, but that is only positive because we wanna let as many teams as possible to get the chance to compete in it. We could have made the tournament twice as big for each tournament but somehow we have felt that to minimize drop outs, no shows and so on we have had this amount of teams, 64 that is into the tournament. And that have worked out very well. By not making it to big we have secured the stability of the tournament.

If I'm gonna talk about the upcoming one, the May edition I could go on for ever but I will give some hints out to the readers and gamers that are interested. The May edition will be the biggest one so far no doubt about it. We are even considering adding the amount of teams into it, exact how many is still in discussion as we haven't decided on the actual structre of the tournament yet. We have some different ideas here such as going for invites into the playoffs and let only some play for the remaining playoff spots. Besides the structure and such we are aiming higher on all other parts as well. I could hint out that the prizes will be the biggest so far in CODQCUP with sponsors such as Qpad of course being our main sponsor.

The deal with them for May edition is bigger then never before and I think many players will be very suprised what we have to offer. Noctua and Coolink will still be in it providing some different products. I can also say that we have worked out a deal with another sponsor that will give away prizes to the readers/viewers of CODQCUP each day. But more about that when it is 100% done. Other then the above all I can hope for is that we can give the tournament to the gamers that they like and that we feel that they deserve. We are doing them for the teams/players not ourself. Me and my crew just love to see pleased gamers.

Thank you for your time, do you want to say something before we finish?

Would like to thank you maxi and Insignia Cadre for covering CODQCUP during the tournaments and also for taking part in it. I also wanna thank my crew members apelsin and Pit because without them there wouldn't be a tournament. Also a big thanks to our sponsors Qpad, Plantronics, x3m, Dataparty, Noctua, Coolink and TGBF
