WASM: Preview
@ Assembly Winter 2007 channel

We're staring down the barrel of an almighty showdown this coming weekend in Tampere. Finally, the qualifiers are done and dusted, the cream has risen, but who will make it to the top? Together lets look forward to the Finnish Day of Defeat showdown at Winter Assembly 2007.

Who better to preview the competition than the guys who will actually playing eh? Here's the views of a member from each competing team.

Afterlife - Sagitarius
Omsku is still to my knowledge uncertain. If he decides to come too, I'm not sure how we are going to divide the playing time among 7 players. For the tournament, ofcourse we try to compete cadre for the win. Rapa might suprise too if they have a good day. All in all I think it will be another fun experience, no matter what the turnout is.
Insignia Cadre - Premi
One of the most interesting events for a Finnish gamer of this year will definitely be Winter Assembly '07. Not only it is a opportunity for a cadre gathering, it's also holding a pro-competition for DoD:S. We shall see the top 4 Finnish clans fighting against eachother and I'm looking forward to it. Our main focus will be on winning the whole tournament and to be crowned as the number 1 Finnish team. We are heading the competition with the following lineup: Blanzzi,Deltta,Filter,KAZA^,Tomsku and myself. The whole event will be really interesting and fun, and luckily for me it's held in my hometown this year.
Rangaistus-Pataljoona - Tufe
We're really looking forward to WA. It's the first real dod:s lan in Finland and best finnish teams will be there so we will definitely get great matches. It's also great that WA is held in my hometown so after the playing it will be much partying in local nighlife hopefully with many dod:s geeks!
Viimeinen Rynnäkkö - iGnotuS (from their website)
Despite the fact that there are some actual prizes this time, ViiRy is going to the LAN plainly to have some kickass fun. Seeing all those fugly faces behind the ventrilo voices will be a nice experience. However, we're definately not going to spend the evening with 'dry mouths'. After all the contests are over, we're heading straight to the bar :)

Can't say I wouldn't be excited. I've been playing in this clan for about a year now and I'm absolutely sure it will be a kickass trip. The LAN is hosted at Tampere, Finland. Date is set to 27th - 29th of April 2007. Be sure to give me a hello, if you happen to see me! - Aleksi "iGnotuS" Tossavainen

Everyone being ever so nice! With the top four in Finnish Source ready to do battle, lets take a more indepth look at the clans, and my personal view on how things will pan out at Pirkkahalli.

  • Afterlife
Lineup: Sagitarius - xyfo - sav - Rinorragi - doll - Swingu - omsku (maybe)

The team previously known as ferratus has an excellent history in the European Day of Defeat Source scene. Having competed in the EuroCup and notably placing 3rd last season. They have a gamestyle which often destroys the might of continental europe. They have what many see to be a star studded line up and constantly find themselves at the upper end of rankings, and indeed competitions.

The sometimes however flatter to decieve and can be regarded as the bridesmaids for DoD:Source. They have yet to win a notable trophy and are usually runners up in many competitions. This could be their achilles heal, and I believe the guys themselves will openly admit winnign a major competition be it online or offline, will really solidify their position as one the truely top European teams. That being said these guys can pull anything out of the bag.

I do believe they will make it to the final, and I think its most likely against Insignia Cadre. This will be the toughest and most honest test they're likely to get this season. Here's hoping for a great game.

  • Insignia Cadre
Lineup: Blanzzi - Deltta - Filter - {{KAZA^}} - Tomsku - Premi.

Hmmm. This team has only ever lost twice in officials. Thats quite an achievement. In fact, thats quite scary! What we have in Cadre is the undisputed number one team in Europe. Since this team came along, they have, under junk52 & TmG names, been a force to be reckoned with online or offline. Twice EuroCup champions, twice Playz LAN winners, HTGN champions, double CAL-Europe champions, zp!-invite victors, holders of the ESL Summer cup, and who knows possible Assembly winners.

What we have here is a team of winners, a team destined to continue in this vain, it really is up to everyone else to stop them. Maybe Assembly is the place for this. Cadre are stumped by the loss of both rnl and xvO . Filter will fill in at sniper, and this could make a major difference in upsetting the rythym of the team. That being said, this team has 18 months of experience and team work, so only time will tell wether or not they can handle the loss.

Its become very fashionable over at a rival website to predict Insignia Cadre to lose, yet, when you think about the list of competitions they've won and also the sheer level of skill, teamwork and conviction to win, you'd really have to ask yourself, how could any one else win?

  • Rangaistus-Pataljoona
Lineup: Tufe - vingih - ELh - Rambo - Ryoka - Timebeing

Another of the older Finnish teams with a deep history. Rapa surprised many with some scintilating performances at Play 2, where they ended up in 5th-7th place, which was no mean feat in such exhaulted company. Imust say I'm quite looking forward to seeing what these guys will do on Saturday. Its obvious to say they will struggle against Cadre, but you know this could be damn interesting indeed! I've a sneeking suspicion that Rapa may push this match to mini points. They clearly excel on LAN and we really may have a bright spark in Rapa.

I fancy most of their players to do well as they have some skilled names from the 1.3 days, and their team work and skill has been born of experience, and thats what counts in this game.

Players to watch: vingih & Ryoka

Pred: (3rd-4th)
  • Viimeinen Rynnäkkö
Lineup: Unknown

With a tie against the favourites Insignia Cadre in the online qualifiers, Viiry made light work of their passge through. Dispatching Finish Brandenburg, by the odd cap and Venatio with ease. This will be the first outing for Viiry in a major Source LAN, and they haven't really got much to prove. So maybe this can help them enjoy the LAN, relax and play their natural game without any major pressure. Lets hope they're not as hard to get in contact with next weekend!

Players to watch: Roksi
