fnatic.WOW
@ Scene news channel

With a world reknowned CS team, and exploits in UT, Quake and Warcrft, fnatic is one of Europe's premier organisations. They have in the past made some intresting decisions and in some people's eyes are the most cutting edge proffesional team. Now they have added a team which will play one of computer gaming's most immersive games. A game which has ruined lives, relationships and been the cause of countless late nights, I bring you news of fnatic.WoW (shudder!)

Leading the line for fnatic will be a veritable all star line up in FPS gaming?! Odd indeed.
  • Sander "vo0" Kaasjager
  • Alexander "Ztrider" Ingarv
  • James "TooGood" Harding
Fnatic.2GD had this to say on the new departure for fnatic.
Its an honour to be given an opportunity like this by Fnatic.

Vo0, Ztrider and I of course know that the odds will be stacked against us for our first tournament in china.

We're very aware that there are a vast amount of great players who dedicate a large amount of time to the game and they will want to beat what may appear to be a novelty team, but rest assured we're no novel, celebrity team and we intend to show everyone that.

Vo0, Ztrider and I will be giving a full run down on the tournament in china (hopefully on video!). We'll be assessing World of Warcraft as a competitive game, breaking down its victories and flaws, and because I’m so smart and stuff, Blizzard will be employing me soon to balance their game and rules for competitive play; you can find my email on my Fnatic profile!

We are all looking forward to playing such a popular game which involves strong team play, excellent communication, tactics, and fast but controlled execution of strategies, all of these things we hope will make World of Warcraft a strong e-sports competitor.. Well... we'll see eh :D
Fnatic.vo0 on the new team:
I am glad to be able to compete again in a game which has an enormous userbase and is currently played very competitive in the new arena system. I have been out of competition for over 17 months and the last few weeks I have felt the urge to compete again. When WSVG announced their choice of games I immediatly contacted Jay and Alex as I knew they were playing World of Warcraft as well. They were as anxious as me, if not more, to compete in the upcoming WSVG tournaments. We made a 3on3 arena team and we started practicing right away.

We know the choice of a World of Warcraft competition might sound odd in some ears but people don't realize that this game actually has many tactics. There are 9 classes and each one of them have abilities that totally differ from each other. You have to find tactics, counter tactics, and renew tactics during a battle. It is very competitive and is played by allot of people. There is a reason why the Southpark episode of World of Warcraft has been the most viewed SP episode ever.

We hope to be able to aim for the top spots in the upcoming tournament in China, and hopefully continue our success in other tournaments throughout the year.
2GD was interviewed at i30 and here is his video.

As to wether or not this is a good idea is still to be seen. In my opinion the likes of Warcraft, Starcraft and indeed World of Warcraft are a negative departure in such tours. My personal preferance is FPS, and I believe this to be the very essence of competative gaming.

Of course my opinion counts for absolutely nothing here and so the WOW escapades continue, but are we seeing WOW finally begin its take over of the competative scene?
