DH Winter: Six Teams Progress
@ General coverage channel

DreamHack Winter Coverage in Association with Alienware

Six teams have progressed to the elimination stages of the MSI Beat It Heroes of Newerth tournament at Dreamhack Winter.

It's the biggest HoN tournament since the game was released and it's taking place at the biggest LAN event there is. Over 30,000 Euros in prize money and 10,000 in hardware have been offered by the tournament sponsors MSI and after a hugely exciting group stages we're now in the business end of the tournament. Six teams have qualified from the groups, with two going directly to the semi finals the remaining four must fight it out for the chance to get that far, it's happening tonight and it's going to be huge.

The first team to secure a spot in the elimination stage was Swedish side Lion, with an unbelievable 5 wins in 5 matches, something nobody saw coming in the build up to the event. The team have been performing well recently and were contenders in a tough group but for them to whitewash their opponents - including the likes of Fallen Kingdom (former Online Kingdom), EZ and Reason Gaming - is an incredible achievement. Putting their LAN inexperience out of mind they stormed to first place in the group and will be confident of making it into the grand final at least on recent form.

They have been joined by Fallen Kingdom as the second placed team in group B. The team have huge experience and most of the players already have a Dreamhack title to their names, but they have struggled to scale the heights that they did last year and their qualification has been hard fought. The news that their organisation has collapsed will no doubt be playing on the minds of the players and they must pick themselves up for what will be a vital quarter final match against Trademark eSports, one of two American teams to progress.

Through on top of group A is the Frenetic Array who have traveled all the way from Down Under to attend the event and will be ecstatic with the performance of their key players. Even when playing with 200+ ping online the team have been able to compete with the very best, put them in LAN conditions and they've shown that they are a force to be reckoned with, in particular their go-to carry player and former DWi star man Trent “sLiCKz” Tucker. They lost only one match in the group and that was to the Americans Trademark eSports and finished even on points with the defending champions fnatic.MSI, given that their head to head result finished 1-0 to the Aussies it will be Frey who progress to the semi final.

As mentioned above the second team to qualify from group A is the defending champions and still favourites for the title fnatic.MSI. The team got off to a rough start yesterday but battled back and showed the resilience they are known for to sweep the rest of their matches and finish with a 4-1-0 record. They will have a quarter final match against Team EZ after the team made it through the treacherous three way tie-break with two stunning wins over Wahl and Reason Gaming - the second match lasting well over an hour. The sixth and final team to secure a spot is the Americans of Trademark eSports who have come into the event confident of winning, after an up and down group stage I don't think they'll be quite so cocky come the elimination stages.
