It's been a while since ETF2L resembled anything other than an excuse to engage in an unlocks debate, however Season 10 has resurrected not only the league but the online side of competitive TF2 in general, and has been the undisputed "must watch" competition over the past few months. That having been said, the finals literally couldn't be better setup if the teams had been hand picked.
Regardless of the fact that Epsilon and Infused currently form the most talented outfits in europe, for the first time in as long as I can remember there is a genuine air of begrudgement surrounding this game after Epsilon surrendered their crown to Infused, provoking outbursts in the Cadred November top 10 and a lot of behind-the-scenes smack talk.
History is on Epsilon's side, however the most recent encounter saw them suffer their first defeat to Infused. GeaR would have you believe that this was an undeserved fluke brought about by a bad ruleset, so tonight there will be points to prove and egos to bruise.

Epsilon boast the best scout combo in the game dwarfing, in my opinion, even the close runners up. Compared to Infused scouts, you have evenly matched meat-machines in quad and wltrs, however quad lacks the years of experience playing with some of the smartest minds in the game that his opposite counter-part benefits from. While wltrs can be form dependant, recently there's scarely been so much as a chink in his armour. Not as directly comparable but similar insofar as they play a different role from their aim-based counter-parts; Greg and shocky form the mis-match of this competition. No disrespect meant toward Greg, as regardless of this he is still one of the best scouts in europe, however there really is no question, shocky is currently head and shoulders above every other scout in TF2. He will turn the tide of games time and time again without having to fire a shot. Whether through backcaps or simply by being so versatile in his movement, his cunning goes utterly unmatched and his aim is only a whisker behind the supposed best aimers in the game. For me, shocky is the deciding factor for Epsilon in this match. If he's allowed to play his game then this is the one department in which Infused are outclassed hands-down.
Something that's interesting to note about this match, is that it's really the first emotional test for Infused since the departure of boomeh. Vastly underrated as a personality in mumble, it will be interesting to see how Infused's emo-prone players react to the occasion with this deficit. Whilst I've played very little with dunc, having spoken to him on many occasions I'll be looking for him to keep the ship afloat on what may prove to be a very stormy occasion.
I would say that Mike needs to be on top-form for Infused to win this match, but Mike out-deathmatching every other soldier on the server hands down has become such a regular occurence that it really falls to his team mates to make up the difference. Numlocked looks to have regained the form that helped TCM-Gaming dominate the scene in years gone by, and with Randa seeming to have lost the form that made him shine so much in Epsilon's earlier days this is really the area where Infused will hope to find sure footing. I'll go out on a limb and say if Numlocked doesn't shine tonight, Infused cannot win. If he's on, game on. For me, Infused lack the subtle strategic approach that Epsilon can fall back on when their stars don't shine, but the deathmatching potential of their heavies has surpassed Epsilon's of late so big performances are a must.
Tune in tonight at 20.15 BST to catch all the action, hit up the match ticker for all the details.
