WinFakt Swap Two
@ Scene news channel

Finnish team WinFakt have begun their 2012 season with a roster overhaul as they kick their push towards the top up a notch.

Following the news that Tomi 'lurppis' Kovanen would be leaving the American side Evil Geniuses and moving back to his native Finland last year many people expected the rise of a new Finnish team that could compete with the very best on a regular basis, something that hadn't been seen for some time despite the best efforts of the former Power Gaming team. Unsurprisingly it didn't take long for a team to emerge, initially as a mix for ICSC8 competition but after a solid performance they decided to make it official.

Soon after the team was announced as a full-time gig they were scooped up by the WinFakt organisation and offered the support that most Finnish teams of old had lacked; support which would guarantee their attendance at numerous events over the course of the year. Despite performing to a decent standard at most events the team felt that in order to break into the very top of the scene changes would need to be made. This means that both Jirka "jigetus" Ryhti and Niko "naSu" Kovanen will be leaving. The reason for removing the duo is simply their inability to commit enough time to the game, with both players tied up by work and school.

The two players tasked with replacing them are Aleksi "allu" Jalli and Hannu "H^N" Pohjalainen, two players with a lot of potential. The team are currently bootcamping in preparation for their inaugural event, Lantrek, set to take place this weekend.

Team captain Tomi 'lurppis' Kovanen said the following to WinFakt:

"While you never wish for a lineup change to happen as it's bound to set you back months in terms of experience playing together as a team and team chemistry, I think this change was necessary in the end. Majority of our team's problems were caused due to lack of practice, and now we have the possibility of putting more time in with five motivated players and the chance to bootcamp at SETT's offices regularly before tournaments.

WinFakt are now:

Aleksi "allu" Jalli
Timi "aslak" Verkkoperä
Kimmo "BASiC" Fagerholm
Hannu "H^N" Pohjalainen
Tomi "lurppis" Kovanen
