Today compLexity Syndicate, the #1 team in America, have released 2 key players from their otherwise solid roster.
compLexity have had one of the most solid rosters in gaming for a long time, consistently competing with the best in the world, with very minimal roster changes. Corey "tr1p" Dodd had playing with compLexity for 2 and a half years when released, and Justin "sunman" Summy had been playing over a span of 2 years.
Jason Lake has said many times that even though he feels a strong bond with all of his players, he will do what it takes to keep compLexity at the top of the scene. This explains why sunman has been cut, as he has been underperforming since his 3 month hiatus in 2005.
However, a more surprising move was cutting tr1p, the teams in game leader, strat caller, and one of the most clutch players in the world. Jason Lake made the following statement on it :
Corey is truly one of the best Counter-Strike minds to have ever touched the game. He is an amazing player whose ability to read the opposing team AND clutch in-game is going to go down as legend. Releasing him was very difficult, and he will be missed. However, as I have said, I will do whatever I need to do in order to field the strongest five players possible.
However, Jason Lake has assured everyone that this is not a move of desperation, and seems extremely confident in his next move for compLexity. Although no new news has come of this, this news has been referred to as "Evolution : Part 1 of 4" on the compLexity site, indicating there is big news to come. With Warden and Storm picking up CS:Source recently, this could bring big news for CS:Source also, although it is purely speculation at the moment. There has also been talk of compLexity picking up 3D|Method, although nothing is confirmed.
Either way, it seems to be a bright future for coL, and we wish them the best of luck, as well as Sunman and tr1p.
