The Code S Ro32 Group Stage is complete and 16 players are through to the next test: Ro16 Group Stage.

The Ro16 groups kick off this Wednesday and the drawings were made by the following system. The top4 players by GSL points (MMA, MVP, Nestea and MC) were split across the 4 groups. Then each player was allowed to select another from the remaining 12 to put into their group. This process was repeated by the newly picked players until the groups were filled.

Its beyond my abilities to single out any of these as a particularly hard or easy group because they are all incredibly solid and the thought of trying to make any accurate predictions whatsoever has me sweating balls. On the final day of the Ro32, PartinG shattered most pundits preconceptions about how Group H would play out, beating down Puzzle and NaDa on his way to advancing in first. Evidently his performance has the rest of the competition on edge too as he was the second last pick for this group stage. Nevertheless, he has his work cut out for him as he now faces not 1 but 2 GSL champions; MC and Jjakji.

Fan favourites DRG and MKP will also meet in the Ro16 in Group D. This could be the most interesting group as it is the only with all 3 races represented. Further, Genius and DRG will be having a rematch from their Ro32 Group so DRG has a chance to take revenge if he is able. After facing Nestea in ZvZ for his first game he may not feel up to the task!

All matches will be Best of 3 and the groups will be played out using GSL’s “Dual Tournament” format, the same used in the Ro32. Those advancing have the chance fight on in the tournament. The losers will drop to Code A Ro24 and will need to fight for their Code S status Stay with cadred for all the updates and news. All groups will begin play at 09:10 GMT.
