You wouldn't have to be Ollie Observant with his massive eyes to have noticed that the last few days has seen people attacking the site, spamming threads with the lyrics to a popular eighties song.

The thread also contained a download link to the spambot software that was being used to attack the site and thus it was spread to other people who had little better to do with their time except join in.

Needless to say the attack was a coordinated effort by several users from HLTV.org after recent comments made relating to Counter-Strike 1.6 in a piece of editorial. There were also a few users from another CS:S site as well, which is disappointing but again, not entirely unexpected.

We're definitely not going to be held to task over what we print in such a manner and while we find it baffling to elicit such a response from people who are supposedly adults and of sound mind, it comes with the territory in e-sports. We will not compromise what we write, we will not water-down opinions, nor will we avoid facts to fit some sort of overarching agenda.

That said, things couldn't go on as they were as users were having their ability to use the forums diminished. As such, from today all new accounts will now have to prove they are valid. This will be done via an authentication code sent to the registration e-mail, thus preventing frivolous spam or anything that is software generated.

To the two actual users of Cadred who downloaded the software and started using it, needless to say you have earned yourselves a permanent ban in all forms. It is mildly depressing to contemplate that someone who uses the site on a daily basis would seek to harm it and disrespect the staff in such a manner but it was only a small minority.

We hope the move will allow you all to enjoy the forums as usual without further interruptions and to those from other sites who wanted to attack ours, here's something to show there's no hard feelings.
