GESL: Forcefields of Fury
@ GESL channel

We saw Alicia dominate at Anaheim, falling short of claiming victory against DongRaeGu; does he have it in him to take out Daisuki, an upcoming Zerg player?

Daisuki, an unknown name to those outside of North America, has held his own against some big names in the Starcraft 2 scene recently, placing above IdrA in the recent Blizzard WCS tournament held last weekend at MLG. Remember that Alicia, a Protoss player, fell to DRG. Daisuki has a very solid ZvT structure built, but will it be enough? This game will round out coverage today, as I've been up a full day and can't handle any more. Expect more throughout tomorrow.

Game 1

Forgot the map name. Damn. Both players have mirror builds up until around the 6 minute mark, then Alicia elects to go for a quick third, securing himself enough bases to supply a good 8-gate warpgate army, while Daisuki goes for a roach/hydra combination. Colossi pop out for Alicia at about 15 minutes, and it's a 160 vs. 160 army at Alicia's natural; the colossi are sniped by Daisuki's roaches and Alicia is looking in bad shape, only having forcefields as base defense. The supply drops to 110 as Daisuki remaxes on hydras and roaches; the strong push from Daisuki is too much, and the Protoss that took 2nd at MLG is forced to GG out, dropping his first game in the Bo3.

Game 2

The map is Entombed Valley. A six pool from Daisuki calls for an intense micro early game from Alicia to hold it off; spider senses go off and Alicia goes forge first, electing to hold off on the quick expo, but will it pay off? Indeed it does. Alicia immediately pulls all of his probes and makes two cannons near his mineral line, but Alicia regains the lead by sniping Alicia's forge at the ramp as well as a pylon. Speed is being researched by Daisuki as Alicia attempts to just keep it to a one base contain, finally getting a nexus at his natural at 8 minutes, just as Daisuki's speed finishes. A few strategic forcefields from Alicia account for a difficult hold from Daisuki to keep his lings, but Daisuki does indeed hold off the counter-attack. A very sentry-heavy army from Alicia is going to be very difficult for Daisuki to hold off; Daisuki GG's out 14 minutes in, Alicia ties it up 1-1.

Game 3

It's all tied up going onto Daybreak. Alicia needs to win this game or the huge underdog takes it; 4gate pressure from Alicia leads into mass lings from Daisuki. The game goes to and fro for a good 15 minutes before Daisuki can drop a third hatch and get some Zerg economy going. 13 minutes in a huge engagement goes down at Daisuki's natural. It's 156 supply pure roach against Alicia's warpgate mix, with heavy blink stalker influence. It's just too much for Daisuki to hold off, the Korean Protoss takes the series 2-1. More coverage tomorrow, PEACE OUT!
