DreamHack: Final Standings
@ DreamHack Summer 2012 channel

In association with Alienware

After a long weekend, in fact so long that it ended on Monday, the StarCraft 2 tournament at DreamHack Summer 2012 has come to a close, with Mousesports MaNa coming out victorious. For the first time in a good while the top12 doesn't consist of 11 Koreans and one stray foreigner, quite the contrary. With 1 Korean making it into the top eight this tournament was a delight for everyone who roots for the foreigners of StarCraft.

In the finals DIMAGA and MaNa gave it their all in a blistering best of 5 series. Especially MaNa grew right into the tournament, going from almost being eliminated in the second group stage to virtually becoming the uncontested champion, losing only 2 maps in the entire playoffs. Congratulations to MaNa!

A special mention goes out to HerO, who didn't lose a single map until dropping 2 versus MaNa in the quarter finals. Having played simply amazingly once again, showing that entertaining, active and well controlled play style Hero can show from time to time, HerO came up just short versus the eventual winner. Despite going out 5th-8th HerO proved himself worthy, but was simply outdone by the DreamHack Winner/Runner up this time around.

Although this top eight is stacked with players who are amongst the best in the world, I do want to mention some of those who didn't make it.

For all the English out there Ziktomini is a definite worthy mention. Taking the place of JohnyREcco at the last moment the infused player was able to make it all the way to the third group stage, beating the likes of Stephano and Bly in the process. Although he dropped just short of the playoffs he can look back on a very successful DreamHack event.

For the Dutch there was Harstem. This MouseControl player went one step further, making it all the way to the top 16, beating players the likes of ThorZaIN to prove his worth. No-one expected him to come this far, and he deserves the recognition.

The final standings of the DreamHack Summer 2012 SC2 competition:

........ MaNa - $15,000 & direct seed
........ DIMAGA - $7,500 & direct seed
........ Stephano - $3,750 & 20 points
.... ... Fraer - $3,750 & 20 points
5th-8th NaNiwa - 12 points
5th-8th SaSe - 12 points
5th-8th Nerchio - 12 points
5th-8th HerO - 12 points

That's it for our DreamHack coverage, bar our review which should be out in a few hours. We hope you all enjoyed it! If you missed anything you can find our entire coverage archived here.
