i46: Online Qualifiers
@ General coverage channel

You know an i-series is just around the corner when the online qualifiers are announced. However, as recent announcements have shown, Multiplay are really pushing i46 out as a major tournament, and there are a few welcome changes from last time round to announce.

With the imminent release of CS:GO, many people are saying i46 will be the last CS:S Insomnia event. If it will be the last event for Source, it will be a worthy finish for the game. Following on from the announcements that there will be full bo3 games in the prize-winning bracket, and a minimum of £7,500 as a prize pot, Multiplay have given out details of the online qualifier.

The most important change is that there will be three sets of tickets up for grabs for teams, instead of just the two this time. The teams that place in the top three will not only win entry to the tournament, but will also bypass the group stages on the Friday of the event, going straight into the prize bracket best of three games.

However, that is not the only welcome change. Due to the organisation that has gone into the tournament, the online qualifier will be played over the course of July, with games every Tuesday in July, starting on the 10th. This will allow teams to commit a lot more to the competition, rather than playing out up to 8 games over two nights in one week, and will hopefully attract more teams to qualifier. The increase in maximum teams allowed into the tournament up to 256 reflects this hope.

Full details of the online qualifer are as below:

This tournament is for a maximum of 256 teams, and is due to take place every Tuesday in July. The full schedule is below:

Tuesday 10th July: Round of 256 & Round of 128 (BEST OF 1)
Tuesday 17th July: Round of 64, Round of 32 (BEST OF 1)
Tuesday 24th July: Round of 16, Round of 8 (BEST OF 3)
Tuesday 31st July: Round of 4, Grand Final & 3rd Place Matches. (BEST OF 3)

All match nights will begin at 8pm BST / 9pm CEST and run until the matches are finished.

Alongside the announcement of the tournament, Multiplay have revealed that they will be providing a streaming service for some of the games on each match night, however more details are still to be released.

Make sure you don't miss out on the chance to win tickets to i46, and head on over to this website to sign up on ESL.
