Moscow Five Owner Arrested By FBI?
@ Scene news channel

It's not every day an e-sports luminary is exposed as a criminal mastermind but if a recent report on Russian news site Fontanka is anything to go by that may just be the case.

Dmitry 'ddd1ms' Smilyanets is well known in the world of e-sports as the owner of Russian organisation Moscow Five, an organisation with a number of high level teams in CS, DotA2 and League of Legends. However, if the recent allegations are to be believed he has been living a bit of a double life and now finds himself in the custody of the American government as part of a global operation by the FBI's Cyber Crimes unit. Although no charges have been made public it's reported that Dmitry was part of a criminal network believed to have been involved in online credit card fraud totaling a massive $205,000,000. Co accused is Sergei Matvienko, the son of the speaker of the Federation Council.

It was believed that the man in question would make a statement upon his return from vacation in the Netherlands but that stay has been cut short, with a statement published on the Moscow Five website earlier revealing that he has indeed been arrested, but no further details have been given. It read:

Yesterday a well-known Russian news site Fontanka.ru published news concering the arrest of the leader of our team - Dmitry the Brave (real name Dmitry Smilyanets). Below you can read the official statement of M5 on the matter. Dmitry was indeed staying in Holland and was indeed arrested. Despite the fact that a week has passed since the arrest, the Russian Foreign Ministry still has no information to why Dmitry was arrested, because the Dutch officials refuse to provide any details. Dmitry's father left for Amsterdam in order to settle the incident as soon as possible. Despite this incident, our DotA 2 and League of Legends teams keep on practicing for the upcoming major tournaments. Today M5.DotA2 will play at Starladder Season2 qualifier playoffs and M5.LoL will practice for the European Challenger Circuit, which takes place in Poland at the end of July and will feature $40.000 prize purse. Our 1.6 female team is practicising for a LAN cup in Kiev, which will take place at the 15th of July.

Although the details are sketchy we will strive to keep you updated on this story as it unfolds..
