So it looks like ESWC 2012 will be going ahead after all taking place between October 31st and November 4th, in line with Paris Games Week. Today ESWC have announced the list of games that will feature competitions.
No 1.6 or CS:S Counter-Strike fans but instead it seems they are jumping in the deep end with a CS:GO tournament that could well set the tone for the future of Counter-Strike.
The other games won't really come as a surprise, although Shootmania being so prominent may raise a few eyebrows.
The list is as follows:
• Starcraft 2 © Activision Blizzard, 1v1
• Dota2 © Valve Software, 5v5
• ShootMania Storm © Nadeo Ubisoft, 3v3
• TrackMania Nations © Nadeo Ubisoft, 1v3
• FIFA 13 © EA Sports, 1v1 o
• Tekken™ Tag Tournament 2 © NAMCO BANDAI Games, 1v1
Beside the official competitions, additional tournaments:
• Counter-Strike: Global Offensive © Valve Software, for international teams
• Trackmania Canyon © Nadeo Ubisoft, for international players
• League of Legends © Riot Games, for local teams
• Tekken™ Tag Tournament 2 © NAMCO BANDAI Games, for local teams in 2v2
Following the ESWC brand changing hands again it wasn't clear if the event this year would go ahead but not only does that seem to be the case it also seems that the choice of games will be looking to cement the ESWC as one of Europe's premier e-sports tournaments once more.
