After TLO was able to theoretically expand his tournament life with a win against Grubby he continued into another player who was winless up until now, StarTale's Golden.
Once again tournament life was on the line for both players, as they still theoretically have a chance to advance in the situation they are in, although for Golden that chance is a bit smaller than for TLO.
The dynamic ZvZ series started on DayBreak and saw both players go to virtually the same builds, going early expand, late pool and standard zergling/baneling/mutalisk compositions. After some early-game shenanigans which saw Golden by the aggressor and TLO be the defender the match got interesting when Golden was the first player to commit to a third base. Golden used his offensive army to secure the perimeter for his third, successfully getting the extra mining the needed to start taking an edge in the match. TLO was actively defending with banelings, trying to surprise Golden, but the opposite happened when Golden managed to get a few of TLO's queens out of position and limit the injects his opponent had.
At the same time he caught a small flock of overlords with his newly acquired mutalisks, which supplyblocked TLO in a very tough moment. Golden maximized the damage he could do, pulled back, leaving TLO quite far behind. Golden put the final nail in the coffin when he managed to deny TLO's third base twice, first just when TLO had started it and second when TLO was trying to catch Golden's mutas out of position, negating and advantage TLO got in doing so.
The additional gas count eventually got out of hand as Golden had a 40 supply lead as well as being a base up. TLO had no more defenses and got harassed out of the match.
In the second game the match-up was virtually the same, with the Korean once again being the aggressive role. Again TLO's defense wasn't perfect, allowing a run-by into his main and as such giving Golden the perfect window to build his third. The extra gas and muta's snowballed, as TLO scrambled to get up his own third. Golden cancelled it first, then in fact killed it when TLO gave it a second try, making the difference even bigger. Golden realized he could just straight up destroy TLO once his muta's started greatly outnumbering TLO's. Despite having some infestors TLO stood no chance and lost 2-0.
