The successfull codQcup by callofduty.se is now organising the first CoD4 cup with 256 teams! The number of teams has been increased many times as the cup got surprisingly popular and the organisers wanted to allow as many teams in as possible.

Now, with the start of the tournament getting really close, the 64 invited teams have been announced. The list didn't contain any surprices, but there certainly is some teams that weren't invited that can beat some of the invited teams. This is clear, becouse CoD4 is a news game. These 64 teams won't need to qualify for getting into the group stage. The rest of the accepted teams, 192 in total, will be selected today and they will play one match to qualify for the Groupstage #1, which the 64 invited teams already got in. This means the first group stage will have a total of 160 teams.

The teams at Groupstage #1 will play 4 matches and the number one of each group will continue to Groupstage #2. The numbers two and three of each group will play one single elimination match and the winner continues to Groupstage #2. Groupstage #2 will be same as #1 with less teams. Again the number one continues to playoffs and numbers two and three play one single elimination match and the winner goes to playoffs.

The 192 qualifying teams will play their matches on thursday and group stage #1 will be played during this weekend. The group stage #2 will be played next week and the playoff will kick off on friday next week.
