ASUS Winter Cup 2008

ASUS Winter Cup 2008 was officially announced last Friday.

The competition will take place on 23-24 February 2008 in Moscow, Russia.

ASUS Open Cups are a series of competitions which take place quarterly since 2003 and are sponsored by ASUSTek Computer Inc together with Intel Corporation.

This winter for the first time in history Counter-Strike: Source was included to the list of games for the competition.

Complete list of games and prize fund breakdown for ASUS Winter Cup 2008:

Counter-Strike 1.6 5v5 Masters (16 teams) – prize pool 8,500 EUR
Counter-Strike Source 5v5 Masters (16 teams) - prize pool 4,250 EUR
Counter-Strike 1.6 5v5 Amateur Open (64-96 teams) – prize pool 4,250 EUR
Warcraft 3 DOTA 5v5 Open (32 teams) – prize pool 4,250 EUR
Quake 3 1v1 (64 players) – prize pool 1,500 EUR
FIFA 2008 1v1 Open (64 players) – prize pool 1,500 EUR
Total prize pool 850,000 RUR (around 24,500 EUR).

UPDATE! Invitation opportunities for ASUS Winter Cup 2008 were announced today. Those top-rated European CS:S teams who wish to take part in the event should contact ALTA at #russia.css @ QuakeNet. First four teams to file their applications shall be invited. The teams who have filed their applications will be provided with invitations for the purpose of obtaining Russian visas.
